Question I am a fully paid up member and I am giving my Brother in law my spare sat nav, of which I have been using and keeping updated. My Brother in law is going to join Pocket GPS World. Do I have to delete all GPS World info from the Sat Nav which is backed up on an SD Card, or can that be used when he registers the Sat Nav with you, rather than going through it all again? Your assistance in this would be most appreciated. Very Happy

Thank you Nimpy
TomTom GO 300.

Move from Membership Sign Up Problrms forum.

If he has his own subscription i would remove your data and let him use his own. If he looses the unit whilst your data is on it, your subscription could be at risk.

Even if you deleted the .ov2 data files off the Go, you could leave all the icons and sound files on ready for your B-in-L and the settings would remain in place for when he puts his files on (assuming he uses the same version of the database).

Alternatively, why not just get him to sign up now, then you can show him how easy it is to put the first set of update files onto the TomTom, using his login to download them.

Dear Andy
Thank you for your reply. I understand what you are suggesting in your last paragraph. He will be using the same version of the database for the TomTom XL that I have given him. Once he has joined all he has to do is sign in and download the latest update, just as I do, he will NOT have to delete anything, all that will change is my login to his login, that will make it legal.

Regards

Nimpy

My only thought was whether you wanted to personally watch your own versions of the files get overwritten. Depends how much you trust your friend, I guess! Smile
