|
|
Have you ever been away on business or holiday and forgotten how to get back to your hotel? Misplaced your tent at Leeds Festival? Forgotten where you parked? or maybe even forgotten your secret rendezvous point? No? Well, your memory is clearly better than mine...
IDC Design Corporation have created the ECCO GPS Keychain for those with memories like mine. A small GPS keyfob with digital compass and basic LCD display, the ECCO is dubbed as a 'reverse navigation system' by it's makers. When you are at the place you wish to return to you simply press the 'lock' button and that's about it! Your return journey is aided with an arrow and approximate distance to the location. You can even save up to three locations.
The ECCO's battery is recharged via USB and apparently lasts about a month in standby but only 2 hours in use; so don't get too lost! It is available in the UK from Firebox.com and in the USA at Amazon.com for £69.95 and $89.99 respectively.
If anyone has one of these then feel free to give your own mini review in our forums! |

Hi,ive just bought one of these.Works great. The only problem Im having with it is the usb cable that comes with it! I'd like to have a spare,so I can keep one in the car and one at home.Ive emailed the people who make the Ecco gps but no one has replied. The cable has what i call a standard usb end(is it A?) but the other end has a smaller slim end..printed on the plastic moulding is "B1" Has anyone any ideas where I can get one?(or what of device phone, camera etc.. this normally plugs into?)

In my experience all usb a-b cables appear to be the same although their seems to be two types of b cables, the standard mini B and one a litlle bit wider used on phones, Ihave a multitude of usb from PDAs to phones incl nokia and external HDDs and it seems that if the plug fits they all work on any usb lead, none have failed yet and that includes charging ones. _________________ Moto G5s Plus, Sygic 17.4.8 |

there's a high chance that it is a standard usb lead. however, there are SOME devices/leads that have a slightly different connection... the microfuzion and garmin i3 ONLY work(ed) with the supplied lead.

I'm considering getting one of these. Just read the Instruction Guide on the IDC website
Quote: | The following approved power sources must be used under the conditions of Ecco’s warranty.
• AC travel wall adapter: input 100–240 VAC 50/60 Hz 0.15A; output 5.0V 0.7A rated UL, CE
• Car adapter: input 12V; output 5.0V
• Standard computer USB 2.0 cable
• Auxiliary 5V power pack |
So, jasb, a standard USB A to Mini B USB cable will be OK and they are readilly available for little cost from various high street retailers and on-line. _________________ Jules
