If you click "Options" on that second screen shown above there should be a box next to "Points of Interest", has this box got a tick in it? _________________ Paul |

Yes...
All 5 icons are ticked, and if I press the POI button at the bottom right, all the icons I use are ticked - including the FOOTBALL one i used as an example.... |

This won't help the built-in Icons but might make a difference to your Custom ones. _________________ Richard

You have me confused with these statements. What does it show if it's not showing the icon? |
Hope this helps...
If I go Browse Map - Find - POI - POI Near You ------ and then click on a POI it'll show me it in the screen with the BMP icon....
However, as soon as I press SELECT, the screen goes back to the MAP with the POI there, but not showing ANY Icon...
This is all I get on the screen, if I go to select the POI that I am aiming for.. |
~Right... that's now a great description of the problem....
From that, it shows the icon CAN display on screen, so it isn't an issue with the .bmp name or size of the icon itself.
To my mind it must be a software issue.
I cannot recreate it on any of my machines, but I don't have a One. My maps are all v830 so it's not that, but what software version are you now running?
We need someone else with the exact same combination of model and software to check for the same problem.
While waiting for that, have you tried just reinstalling the software again? Do that by deleting the LOOSE files (i.e. the ones NOT in any folder - leave all the folders alone) and then connecting to Home and selecting "Update my One..." As always, backup the entire device first. |

It may be related to the MapSettings.cfg file in your map folder. You say that this problem started when you installed a new map, did you copy MapSettings.cfg from your old map to the new one? If so it might be worth deleting MapSettings.cfg (the tomtom will create a new one) and checking if this cures the problem. You loose a lot of settings if you delete this file (favorites, speed camera warnings etc) so backup the file before deleting it so that you can restore it if it doesn't fix your problem. _________________ Paul |

pcaouolte's suggestion of deleting the .cfg file didn't work...
Am trying Andy_P's suggestion...
-edit-
Deleted files as suggested, re-booted TT, and it downloaded the latest version of the software...
TT now hangs with the Black TT logo, before turning itself off...
Every time I log back into TT HOME it tells me to download a newer version of the software - but it tells me there is "nothing available".... |

Hmmm... only thing I forgot to mention was to delete the contents of Home's "program" folder on your PC too (C:\Documents and Settings\username\My Documents\TomTom\HOME\Downloads\complete\program
If you don't delete that, Home will use a cached version of the software from your PC instead of downloading a fresh copy. The one you already have MIGHT be corrupted.... |

Still the same result as earlier..
I.E it just boots back to the TT Black screen, and then shut's down..
Going to FORMAT the Card and start over again, to see if THAT works....
At least I did a FULL EXPLORER backup....
Just a thought..... It wouldn't be the fact that I'm using a 4Gb Sandisk SD card, would it??? |

Has the device ever worked with the 4GB card inserted? - if so is it an SC or SDHC type? - Mike |

It's worked before, and is an SDHC type....
When I've finished downloading all the stuff, I'll try putting my Explorer backup onto my old 2GB Card, that I know works and i'll report back... |

Total Re-install............
As above - loads TT software, then goes on an endless re-boot and shut down...
Inserted 2Gb card, and my Explorer backup - back to the original problem... |
