As is v2.6.3.313 for the Mac
Would this topic be better in the "Home" forum section (and could you edit the title to be more descriptive (something like "New Home version released 7th May"?) |

Consider it done, although I must confess to checking we even had a forum section for TomTom Home - Mike |

It's quite new... Done when the last re-organisation of all the forums happened, I think. |

mine has down loaded this xxx..1609 and now cant operate my tom 740L on the computer -- and have lost traffic communications.. when standing alone.
get the message unable to communicate with server.. on the 740..
was working perfect till then..
this don't do me any good at all !!!
any one else lost these -- and how do you get them back..
only had this 740 for two months and although when it is working it is brilliant -- it worries me when it goes "funny" like this..
I am NO computer person !!

Nope - all working OK here.
It seems to be two completely different problems you have there...
Home should automatically download the .dll file it needs for the on-screen emulator to work.
You could try deleting the folder:
C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\TomTom\HOME\Profiles\abc123.default\extensions\Navcore.8.350.9980@tomtom.com
(if it exists) and see if that forces it to download it again.
And for the other issue, are you saying that your Traffic receiver is not being recognised at all? |

Been on the phone to TOM-TOM services and talked it over with them.
-- they said they were aware of the problem about the conecting of the 740L and operating it
-- from within TTHome..
and he said -- "They are working on it" !!
We did a fault find on the Traffic and got
-- "Unable to connect to server"
Tried The Weather -- the same sort of answers
-- "an error occurred on Tom-Tom server. Please try again"
Tried a "reset to factory settings"
-- and was told that I might lose all my favourites..
-- but just lost my phone connections and settings.
He asked around in his office - to his supervisor
-- and came back that there has been a problem with some of the Tom-Tom servers.
Could I try it again tomorrow and if not working ring them again about 12.00 noon ish..
So not much more I can do now -- but wait and see.
Reset the phone and downloaded phone book again -- thats working.
Maurice

mapsettings.cfg, found in your map folder, map=the name of your map.
Did you get your GO back OK? _________________ Darren Griffin |

Thanks Darren yes -- I will drop you a line for the postage etc.. Thanks..
Mary will be pleased to get her Tom back !!
Just got to sort the Faves again -- will copy them from the 740L
which has started playing up since the last TTH download as well. Grrrrrr
Lost all the Services weather - traffic -petrol etc.. says that "has a problem with the tom-tom server"
I wish they didn't make these things so complicated
Thanks again

Maurice, as you have more than one TomTom device have you used unique e-mail accounts when you registered the devices? If the x40 device has the same e-mail address against it as the Go that Darren sent back to you this is why the Plus services are not working. This was the mistake I made with the 940 and all my Live services refused to work untill I got it registered using a different e-mail
Also for your x40 don't use Favourites or the next time you update the map there is a good chance you will loose all of them again! Its much better to create and use a Custom POI file instead, there is no limit to the number of locations you can store, unlike favourites which can only hold 48 and you get the bonus of adding phone numbers to them should you want to, as they are stored in an ov2 file format they can be easily transfered between maps and other devices without any hastle at all. You can even use POIEdit to open the old MapSettings.cfg file, edit the locations and save it as an ov2 POI file, if you don't have POIEdit you can download it from Here
A little tip though if you name the custom POI file:
"Maurice Favs" it will take a while scrolling through the POI's installed to get to it, if you add _ to the beginning so it is named:
"_Maurice Favs" it will always appear at the top of the list, for the POI icon file use a paintshop package on your PC to resize your Avitar picture to 48x48 and then save it as a bmp file with the same name as your "_Maurice Favs" then you will see your own image on the device - Mike |

Yep-- I have re-registered the Classic in Mary's email name and the 740L in mine.. after talking on line to the support people..
I like the idea of having the Faves as a POI and have started doing it with the under score at the start !! good idea. thanks..
-- Although at the moment I am in discussion with "them" the support people
-- [closed on holiday today 21st May]
-- as this 740L hasn't worked satisfactorily since purchace
Now I have - No Live functions and refuses to find the Live server..
-- just the yellow triangle at the side of the screen
And when starting off on a trip takes over a mile to "log in"
-- [nearly into town!!]
-- What I now do is pull out the power and it starts shutting down
-- then plug in again and that just might force it to find a satellite..
Now on trips the arrow is wandering off track and wandering through the Fields next to the road -- even in town on old roads !!
-- What a bl**y thing -[excuse me]- at least the Classic worked !!
-- it just got old
Something totaly wrong with this and only 10 weeks old !!!
disappointed at the moment
