I see that Tchibo are offering their version of the Medion/Navigon package again for £269 (plus £3.50 delivery). This is quite a dramatic reduction in price from the £399 they were charging a couple of months ago. It seems almost identical to the Aldi package except that it includes some earphones and, apparently, loudspeakers (?). I think that the PDA carries the TCM brand name, rather than Medion and the slip case appears to be slightly different. It looks like the offer might only be available on-line.

Click here for the site, then put this number (0005587) into the 'Search' box.

Is this exactly the same unit as Aldi's previous offering? I missed out on the Aldi deal and i'm very interested in getting this Satnav/PDA, so long as they are identicle.

I have the recent Aldi package and the device looks the same and has the same spec, the navigation software is clearly Navigon just like the Aldi package. As walpurgis pointed out the slip case looks a little different and you get earphones.

I wonder why they tucked it away in the bottom corner of a web page selling baby items? Is it so that idots like me who paid £399 will, they hope, miss it and not complain? 8O

I believe this is the same Medion PPC as the Aldi except for the TCM branding and the points noted above - oh and it's £130 cheaper than a month or so ago!!

The software identifies itself as TCM Navigator 3.0 2004, most of the maps and other stuff on the cd are dated January/ February 2004 which is when the cd was probably authored. I noticed, purely by chance of course, that Navigon 4 is now available on the newsgroups. Haven't tried it as there was reported problems with updating/positioning itself unless you were driving very slowly.

Popped over to Manchester last week and the software performed ok, except the M6 toll is not shown (nor on any GPS software currently as far as I know). Got me to my destination without any problems, except for the Teutonic voice waning of speed cameras (now removed) from around Birmingham's ex-roadworks.

Also included, apart from the obligatory activesync and Office, is Kilmist's KSE Entertainment Pack 3.

The only thing I've had to purchase extra for it was an Arkon CM55 powered cradle from Expansys as the volume on the device is quite low when driving with the radio on etc.

All in all I was pretty pleased with it until this thread started!!! But now I'm sold on pocketpc I shall order an XDA 2 as the Medion is obviously not a phone ppc and it means lugging two devices (or more) around when one will do nicely. Also XDA 2 is capable of receiving Trafficmaster bulletins from traffic-i, but mainly because I need a new toy...
