Hi Guys & Gals
been a while since ive been on and sadly the reason im back is to have a moan.
ok,ive had my 910 for just over 2 years now.
firstly before i get into my main reason for this post i had this little problem.
3 days before my 910 was 2 years old it died. i tried everything even resetting with no joy. finally i thought id get it repaired. a friend at dixons told me it just needed resetting a few times with a pin. i thought once would be enough but after trying it another 4 times it came back to life???
anyone else had a similar experience.
right, my main reason for posting.
since receiving my 910 ive updated the maps twice thinking this might help but with no joy.
the problem is the maps are just very slow and hesitate a lot.
for example, i was going to thorpe park a few weeks ago and at a set of traffic lights it said turn right. as i turne right the road split and before the TT told me to turn left i was already on the M3 instead of turning onto an A road. what was left of the 3 mile journey turned into a 27 mile road trip down the M3 to turn round and come back on myself.
i am very road savy and dont totally rely on the TT.
since that journey ive dusted off my original TTGo and done the same journey with no hesitation whatsoever. i would rather stick with the 910 over the GO so as to use the hands free bluetooth.
i drive a 2 year old bmw 3 series and was wondering if the glass could be distorting the signal but if so why does the GO have no problem.
can you the experts give any advice on this annoying problem or recommend any of the newer GO devices out there.
thanks in advance

It's very unlikely to be the maps themselves that are slow. Two questions ...
What version of the software are you using?
How many POIs do you have which are set to show on the map? _________________ Garmin DriveSmart 50 LMT-D |

Check that you have no Ticks against POIs in Change Preferences | Show POI on Map. _________________ Richard

I would also check to see if there's a software update available. I can't be certain about the x10 series, but the previous software for the x20s had a well documented stutter/time lag bug. This has been cured by the latest software release (v8.3) which was certainly since Christmas. _________________ Garmin DriveSmart 50 LMT-D |

Note that as you use Navigate to .... | POI ! etc it will also show those on Map. You have to remove the ticks every so often.

By the way.....
It looks like your camera database is either a very old version or you missed the announcement about the "temp" cameras.
All the temporary cameras are now included in the other main categories for Gatso, Moblile etc. so there should be no "Temp" category. If you have an old one on your device you should delete it as it will not get removed when you update the other files, and you will be getting false alerts, |

thanks for that Andy_P
i think my last update was mid last year after my year subscription ran out.
i only do 3 or 4 long journeys each year so was waiting until i start them.
fancy you should mention it but i find out today im going to bournmouth on friday and then birmingham to the gadget show next week so time to update my cameras again.
subscription updated. so which would you recommend, the consolidated or speed zone complete.
also should i delete the others first or will this update overwrite them (i cant remember)
thanks once again. |
