I have finally decided to move away from the outdated PDA version and get a PND. I have been looking around and I can get either a refurbished 520 or for an extra £70 a new 530.
Which to go for?

If the difference is only £70 I'd be tempted to go with the 530.
Having said that, so long as the refurb comes with the map guarantee or a map update voucher (TomTom Official refurbs do) then it will have a warranty and you can update free to v8. This will make it functionally identical to the 530 and you pocket £70. _________________ Darren Griffin |

I'm quite tempted to get the 530 for the extra as it comes with the traffic module. I know they don't work that well but I could sell it on eBay to get back some of the extra. |

Ah yes, you never mentioned that! If the 530 is a 530T and the 520 isn't then yes, get the 530. The TMC module is £40's worth and so the price differential is small enough that it makes the newer model the better value. _________________ Darren Griffin |

Went and got the 530T at lunchtime. Not a bad deal from Halfords at £195.73 including a £20 gift voucher. It's strange that the model without traffic is more expensive! |
