Moderators - just wondering whether you have any plans to set up a separate GPSAssist forum. IMHO this bit of software is going to become the standard for POI detection and knocks spots off Checkpoint......and if anyone hasn't noticed, Jo has now produced a Users Manual as a pdf download from his website.

Couldn't agree more! Thanks for the tip about the manual - I was on their site earlier today but never noticed the new link 8O so thanks for being more observant than me!

Does GSPAssist handle Section speed cameras ?

If so does it handle them like CheckPoint where you are warned when you enter the section and your average speed is shown on the screen?

I could not find any reference to section cameras in the manual on the GPSAssist website.

Tom - I got that error message as well. I don't know what solved it but I do remember that on the Site Selection page, I changed the default Map selection from "All Maps" to "English Female" and it then worked. However, just before that I had rebooted my PC as the internet connection to my 2210 seemed not to be working so I'm not sure what caused it to work. Incidentally the "English" refers to the language the female speaks........she certainly isn't English in origin!!

Now to my problem. Everything worked fine when I downloaded 2.0.1.12 but now having played around with it for a few hours, when I click on POI Manager I get "An unexpected error has occurred in GPSAssist.exe. Cannot read AbsolutePosition when Recordset is closed". Also it says "Application::Run+Oxf" then it shows a sqaure followed by :: and then another square followed by "+Oxa".

I've reinstalled GPSAssist over the top but the problem is still there.

Using Activesync I removed GPSAssist totally and then reinstalled from scratch - but have the same error message. POIManager worked fine to begin with on my initial installation last night.

Tom - it seems that even when removing the GPSAssist program with Activesync, two files - POIRec and POISync - are left behind in the GPSAssist folder in Programs. Deleting both of those manually and then reinstalling GPSAssist gets POI Manager working again. On installation POIRec appears to be recreated, but POISync doesn't so I presume that's where the problem lies. It's early days with this yet - I still think it's a fantastic program even with these initial niggles.

Tony, I deleted the whole thing last night via ActiveSync and also manually deleted the folder from my 2210. Just re-installed the whole thing again and downloaded the index/sound files from GpsAssist Sounds - this time without any errors so far. Hopefully will get a chance to test it out today - I agree it does look like a clever piece of kit and destined to become a "must have" I would think.

I'll no doubt be back 8O

Cheers for now.

Tom, All,

the two files mentioned above are two databases holding details about recorded POIs and details about the site indexes.

It's clear that somehow an entry got in on of those databases creating the problem.

Can someone either tell me how I can recreate this problem and/or send me a copy of the POIRec.cdb and POISync.cdb databases when the problem exists. The best way to do this is to rename both files to have another extension than CDB otherwise active sync will try to convert them.

you may send the details to support@autoreplying.com

Thanks,
Jo.

Jo, so far no further problems. After reinstalling the software I was able to successfully download all the voice and sounds files without further errors.
If it happens again I will of course send you copies of those two database files as you request.

Maybe Tony can provide you with more information than me on this issue.

Regards

Tom
