|
|
I've got decent custom sounds for most of the available camera types on the 540, but I was wondering if anyone has some links to a full set (i.e. voices for all the speed cam types plus accident blackspot, unguarded level crosssings, etc)
Cheers |

Did you know that it can read out the names of the POI files so if your POI file was called "30 MPH Gatso.ov2" it would say "30MPH gatso 200 yards"? That is how I have set mine up, no extra sound files needed. _________________ Drivelux |

How do I set it to do that? |

This only works from the unit, does not work from TTHome.
Change preferences
Next screen
Manage POIs
Warn when near POI
Select the POI
Select a warning distance
Select Brief Spoken Warning
Done
Select Warn only if POI is on route (if required, I wouldn't)
Done
Repeat for each POI
I rename my camera POI files to the warning I want. _________________ Drivelux |

No, so my original question still stands - does anyone know where I can get a voice pack that covers ALL the warning types for the TomTom camera database?
Failing that anyone know if I could use my Mac to type in some text, then have a computer voice read it, and capture it? I have capture software (Audio Hijack), so it shouldn't be THAT difficult? |

Do you want voices on TTs own camera warnings? I just use them on the PGPSW cameras as they are more accurate and I don't want two spoken warnings for cameras where both databases identify the same camera.
On the PGPSW cameras they are broken down by speed and type so the warning will be 30mph mobile camera rather than camera.
If you scroll down the list of sounds available for the TT cameras there is a record your own warning option. _________________ Drivelux |

Just use the device's text to speech system with the audio of the TomTom feeding the line out socket.
Connect the Line out socket of the TomTom to the PC sound input socket.
Record each warning you want on the PC as a wav file and once you have a full set copy the files to the "sounds" folder on the device, these sound files will then be available for selection against the Safety Cameras.
The above does assume you have an accessory mount for your 540 with the audio line out socket, if not perhaps an easier option is below:
Use the Speed Camera database from this site and the preconfigured warning files, this is a much more comprehensive package, easier to setup and far more accurate - Mike |

Or just convert the .OGG files that are supplied with PGSW database to .WAV files and drop them in the sounds folder then select them for each TT camera type.
I have done this and works ok.
Reason Im doing it?
Well, have used the PGSW database for almost a year now but just updated to a 540 Live and thought I would give the TT supplied database a try for a few weeks to see how it fairs compared with the PGSW database.
Only had the 540 for 2 days so too early to comment on the TT database, although I dont hold up much hope for it been better than the older TT database supplied with Plus services on older devices.
