Bob, connect the device to the PC and shut down TomTom Home, use Windows Explorer and can you see any files/ folders when you click the drive letter associated with the TomTom?
The phone number is 0845 161 0009 but they won't be open until Monday morning - Mike |

It's a symptom of your not disconnecting your unit properly from the computer. Use Home to select Device--Disconnect Device and wait till the window says it is safe to disconnect (if you have Home firmware 2.4 or 2.5, then that is all that is needed but DO wait till you hear a 'plop' sound from the computer as the USB connection is disengaging).
Anyway, click on this link for advice to rectify situation. _________________ David |

Cannot 'operate device' from my Mac either. Just crashes and send a report to TT.
As long as you 'eject' TT as normal for a disc, then that's OK. I do it all the time, in fact did it about 20 mins ago before reading this post.
Have not had any (well no more than usual) probs when getting updates etc from TT on my Mac.
Running 10.5 on a MBP by the way.
Good luck, hope you get sorted _________________ Triumph Tbird 1700. And now a Bonnie T100. |

Bob, do the instructions that dhn linked to on the TomTom web site help to resolve this issue or not? - Mike |

Just got back from Halfords where a "Very nice man" gave me a replacement 530,said he should really get a return number from tom tom but relented in the end, now i'm scared to connect to my mac in case it happens again?
253, do you shut down tomtom home and then 'eject disc' or eject disc first,
I don't want to be in the same situation again as there would be no chance of another replacement
ps thanks for all the help |

For a start make sure you have the very latest version of TomTom Home on the Mac, you can download this from Here (MAC should be to the right of the two download links) - Mike |

Hi,
I shut down TT Home 1st and then 'eject' my device.
I have a 720, so have 2 discs showing. The onboard memory and the SD car.
Always close TT Home, then eject the SD card then the onboard memory.
Not had any problems yet (touch wood) _________________ Triumph Tbird 1700. And now a Bonnie T100. |

Since one or two updates ago, I'm not sure which, disconnecting the device through HOME hasn't worked properly for me but ejecting it from "Computer" on a Vista PC does.
But if I try to disconnect in HOME then try to eject on the PC, it says it can't because another application is using the Go. _________________ TT Go Essential |

I don't see any option to disconnect device on Home? all i can do is shut down home [Mac] and then eject disc, if there is an option to disconnect device on Home i can't find it, my replacement 530 is working fine but i haven't connected to update or anything yet, is there any way i can delete my previous tt530 serial reg number in home, as i think i may have problems when i finally connect my replacement 530, I have an XL also and home nearly wouldn't let me connect as i was already registered , it said i could only change every 6mths ?

I may be a bit slow, but my menu has three pages,
page 1
add maps , read manual , activate promotion code
update device , map corrections
page 2
back up/restore, show contents , copy to computer
remove items, find accessories
page 3
operate my device [doesn't work on my Mac,locks up]
these are the only choices I have, hope you can enlighten me Darren ?
