Hi all

I'd like to get a dash mount for my new 720.
I understand Brodits are forums favorites, however they're very expensive. I'd like something cheaper (and smaller....)

I know Arkons are good too. I came across these 2
http://www.buybits.com/product.aspx?id=3133
http://www.buybits.com/product.aspx?id=3470

does anybody have any experience with them?

cheers

I just purchased the Beanbag non skid mount, and it works very well, is very solid, the suction mount looks really sturdy, and the non skid bean bag is quite heavy.

Cheers

DON'T be tempted by the "budget" models from Buybits (such as http://www.buybits.com/product/sku_3083.aspx)

Pretty poor, the vent clips were useless and the back plate meant you couldn't plug the standard right-angle USB cable in.
I sent mine back straight away

I fitted a Brodit Dash Mount for my TomTom Go 720 in My Toyota Auris, and it's a really good fit.

Worth every penny in my opinion, even though I'm only an occasional TomTom User.

The OP's after a 720 solution? The link to our review is for the 720 mount option Laughing

Thank you very much, John877. I was looking for a way to mount the window mount on the dash and was reluctant to pay TomTom £6.95 to ship 2 pieces of rubber (with a manufacturing price of 2p). So the JohnLewis link with free delivery was perfect for me Smile

If you haven't already ordered, for the cost of an SAE I'll send you one?

wow, thanks a LOT everybody
people here are very keen to help newcomers, more than any other forum I've ever posted in Thumbs Up

Darren
great review, thanks for that

as I said I'd like something which is cheaper and more low profile than the Brodit mount, but solid nonetheless. I would be tempted to get one of those simple disc to attach on the console, but then I'd have to use the crappy TT windscreen, supposedely it will fall very easily

having read that review I'll go for either the Arkon TTGO128 or the TTGO136.
The first one has swivel/pivot adjustments which is great, the second seems to affix better to the dash top, as it has a much larger adhesive base.
decisions, decisions...

If this was directed to me: Thank you very much, Darren, but when I saw the John Lewis offer of £4.95 with free delivery, I went for that.

I so agree with krelian: This feels like a great forum where people are a lot more helpful than most other forums I have gone to. Thank you!

yeah, it's the best thing I found on google in quite a while, heh

Indeed I thought Darren's post was directed to you.
On the other I'm not sure what SAE stands for. I'm definetely slow with abbreviations

Np problem, I seem to have acquired quite few and I'll never use them. If anyone else does want one, PM me and I'll give you my address, all it'll cost is the stamp and an envelope (SAE=Stamped Addressed Envelope) Smile

I have acquired numerous types of mounts trying to find the best one !!
Does the John Lewis dash disc work Darren ??
I have bought the dash disc( not tried it yet) , Arkon bean bag mount ,and the Brodit system and to be honest the Brodit system is my personal favourite with the mini move clips fitted but must admit it is quite expensive !!
