The new series of The Gadget Show starts in the UK tonight on channel 5 at 8pm.
The new series begins with different modes of personal transport and the latest in satellite navigation. Jason Bradbury and Suzi Perry meet famous faces from motor racing in a challenge using bikes, buggies, scooters and skates, before testing sat-nav on rickshaws in London, while Dallas Campbell learns about robots used as risk assessors at the MoD. Plus, the iPod touch and Bluetooth headsets _________________ Mike Barrett |

A thorough test ....NOT
I like the show but sometimes the testing is a joke and does not give a product a fair run.
Take the case tests, PELI are 'THE' cases to have, that monster truck could have driven over the bare case and not harmed it whereas the ali case might have suffered. A better real world test than sticking them in the exhaust path of a jet on afterburner!
On another topic, has anyone seen the multi-million dollar autonomous vehicles that were created for the DARPA challenge in the US? And then compared them with the stuff we knocked up for our mini DARPA'esque MoD event, dear oh dear! _________________ Darren Griffin |

Totally agree about the way they review products.
Some products seem to get very overlooked on what they can do... take the media player reviews... ipod won even though it had the worst sound and smallest screen.... not saying anything about the program as such but iPods and certain other brands always seem to 'win'

Most of the Gadget Show items are stupid and just 'made for TV', like burning them or destructive testing.
Anyhow, this one of the 930T seems more reasonable and informative. No mention of map shares for correcting errors, but most other features are covered.

Video needs a broadband connection.
Wonder if anybody makes a black rubberised cover to stop the windscreen reflections off the shiny silver case. (Making the One XL also look like a 930 and to protect it a bit when the windscreen sucker comes off and the Tomtom bounces all the way down to the foot well). ;) |
