Does any one have a definitive coverage list of Traffic Master TMC ? All they seem to have is a list of companys and not statations on their web site......

I'm asking because I have just swicthed from ITS to TM with my new car disk ( its an OEM one ) and while the data may be better the reception is poor..... I just want to see where I get it from.

TIA

Terran

This image might be a little out of date but it shows where the transmitters were located towards the end of last year:

I also have a POI File detailing the locations which can be used on Garmin devices, but your built in system might not be able to read the data? unless it supports third party POI files - Mike

I have posted the maps up on the site on a few occasions, I created the list of Transmitters when I first started using the RDS TMC system with my TomTom, so once that was complete I decided to do the same for the TM - finding out the information isn't too easy though and I would expect the lists to both be a little out of date - I will send you what I have got its in Excel format if thats ok? - Mike

The main use for the data file on the TomTom is explained in This Thread.
I never uploaded the data to the site as people could very easily download the wrong file set (not everyone knows the difference between TM and iTIS) - The files would be of very limited use as the aerials tend to be on large hills in the middle of nowhere, you certainly could navigate to one! And to make sure of the accuracy I would have to re-check the whole lot again - if iTIS / TM would offer the transmitter list to start with (all I got last time was the radio station and frequency, but you can work the rest out from that) - Mike

Could I have a copy of this TM and iTIS points of interest file.

I remain rather astonished that 99% of the UK can't be covered for TMC and around Glasgow it cuts out about 4-5 miles to the west of the airport.

Classic FM is the station that NavMan used and Garmin may be the same as the location to start/end coverage is almost identical. Rolling Eyes

Garmin use TrafficMaster however. I thought NM on Classic FM would have been iTIS.

And there (on Garmin anyway!) was no coverage from 10 miles south of Glasgow until well past the Lake District. This is useless. Evil or Very Mad

Files sent so you should have mail.

Garmin use the Traffic Master system while TomTom and Navman use the iTIS data which is transmitted via Classic FM and quite a number of additional radio stations within the UK.

If you have a Navman or TomTom you should be picking up the Morecombe Bay station (101,8) while driving through the Lakes though - I do, does your car have an Athermic windscreen? as these are known to mess up reception in a big way, if you use Garmin then I am not too sure there is any coverage for that area at the moment - Mike
