It has been withdrawn whilst we decide how best to proceed with the project. We all want this to work but we want to move forward with an agreed system .

As soon as we have discussed the way forwards we will look at implementing a system for adding the necessary data points.

OK,

Makes sense really, we all want this to work and be maintained.

Look forward to seeing updates soon :-)

I've no doubt I echo the view of many people in that I'll become a paying PGPSW subscriber the instant this stuff is ready for public consumption. I'm hugely impressed with the work of silentwol so far and urge PGPSW not to allow it to go to waste. Count me in for one-off verification work if needed of course!

Yup, I echo jeremy156's comments, I work in the software industry and appreciate the needs of governance on projects like this, however lets not loose innovation and all the good work silentwol has done so far.

Also although the novus updates are free of charge I do not believe the data points are of the same quality that PGPSW has.. and if I were Novus I would certainly support this work as it doesnt impact my subscription revenues (£0/year) and if anything helps me (novus) sell more devices..

A win win situation for everyone.

PGPSW : can you update us on what is being planned?? We're all eagerly waiting :-) :-)

Apologies for the delay, we have to ensure we get this right. We'll report back asap.

As part of the original beta test team I would also like to thank silentwol for his efforts.

All the PGPSW cameras were correctly identified by location. It was just the camera type and approach statistics that gave problems. This area is probably the hardest to cater for, as already posted by silentwol.

Each camera needs not only it's location identifying but also the 500 yard trigger points on maybe more than one road.

I reckon each camera, type, direction and trigger point(s) must be added manually by Talex/Novus as I can't see software being able to do this.

Yup, I'm almost sure they're all done by hand. I've extracted the data points from the novus firmware and they're all very neatly placed... I'd be very impressed if a computer program had done it. Thinking about it, it's oh so tempting to use the novus/talex data as a base for the PGPSW data (would save huge amounts of time!) but obviously it's not a sensible suggestion for legal reasons Laughing

I hope Darren and his team can set up a nice robust system for this project... it's a tricky problem to overcome due to the sheer number of man hours that need to be put in. It's definately best left in their hands as obviously they're the ones with the experience!

Is there any news on this, or has it died a death?

It sounded like a really good idea, and would definitely make me subscribe. At the moment I have no real use for a SatNav so I rely on a Talex.

Silentwol was in contact recently and has resumed work on the conversion, I don't have any further update but will see if I can get one.

I hope I am "doing" this post right?
I have been using the TomTom, but now have Vauxhall with satnav (CD70, colour monitor) My old talex re installed would prefer to carry on using the PGPSW data, so I am interested if a data base could be available for the Talex, any update?
