Hmmm. Not so much a "Booster" as such. It just removes the interference on the line which usually decreases the users speed.

A bit like claiming i can "Boost" the speed of your car for £20 and then just removing all the crap from your boot.

Good idea, but not sure it should be called a "Booster"....

actually it sounds more like an admission of guilt by BT that they cannot correctly filter the telephone lines, but it's ok, joe public, SUCKER numero uno can pay 17 quid to get around the issue and BT are doin them a favour

The line is fine , the issue is created by having a third ring wire which is created in the master socket and run around a house. If ringing was created on a balanced pair this would be better.

However if you want to have the same result without spending money, reove the wire from pin 3 on the IDC connector in the rear of the face plate at the master socket.

If you have argos style extentions fitted these can be quite poor due to the limited number of twists on the cable

sure iäve got four cables connected at mine, further investigation is obviouslz required, thanks for that, anz downfalls to this solution?

Here goes a bit of a lesson for you.

BT supply the telephone service to your house on 2 wires, the ring signal is imposed on the DC current. A standard master socket has a capaicator connected from one of the paiir of incoming cables this is used to seperate the ring signal onto wire 3 .

The incoming wires are reffered to A and B

Old style telephones do not have a ring capaicator fitted hence the need for the 3rd wire.

Modern telephones have them fitted so 99% of installations only require 2 and 5 So removing wire 3 would cause the loss of ringing in old telephones

Wire 4 is NOT needed

Common faults in house wiring is caused by poor connections by not using an IDC ( Insulation Displacment Connector) tool to fit the wire. Poor quality diy wire in cheap phone ext kits


So in your case remove 3 and 4 if needed. Though this may not increase ADSL speeds
