I want to splice some sort of pull apart waterproof connector on to the Zumo power lead so I can easily remove ithe cradle from the bike when not using the Zumo. Has anyone else done it and can you tell me what you used and where to buy it. Tried Halfords and they looked at me like I was mad. Been looking online and all I can find is something costing around £35 !!!!

Ideally the female side of the connector would have a cap to stop ingress of water when the cradle is not in use.

Or am I asking for the impossible!!

Mine stays on all the time. I changed the knurled nut which tightens it all up to a locking one - so if someone wants it, they need to be walking around with a socket set.

So far it has survived 37c riding temps and torrential rain and floods.

Hi just done this mod myself, went to the local car breakers, found myself the repeator indicator connection from the inside the front wing of an of Ford car, it has 2 connections and is waterproof when connected. Cut the power lead from the Zumo and soldered the connections, used shrink wrap to seal the connections. Presto job done. I can now remove the base unit in about 10 seconds when required.

And I got the connection for free
