I have downlaoded the POIS, in a zip file? where shall I extract in? Shall I copy the extracted files to the western europe folder or just in the main folder?

Secondly

Where do i put the zip cameras files? Extract it on the PC ? In which folder shall I put camera files in the western europe I assumed ( or any sub folder)..

Thanks in advance.

Poi's and, if available the associated .bmp files, goes directly into the **specific** map folder, not just a folder named 'map'.

POI files need to be placed in the map folder which will be named "Western_and_Central_Europe" on your device.

The zip files don't go on the device at all, you have to extract all the files from the zip download be them camera POI files or other POI files, once you have them extracted on the PC copy the resultant BMP and OV2 files (and ogg if you want to use the spoken alert files on the device) to the map folder and set up the Warn When Near POI option - Mike

hi

Thanks . the cameras and POIS sorted. But I think I think there is a glitch with the software on this new Tomtom g0 930 T. Only the the first 3 characters of the Uk postcode are detected. Been to some Tomtom shop specialist today, and they did diagnose the tomtom nothing wrong with the unit, and they say it could be the software.

For Example if I tap the postcode BN3 1AN

Only the BN3 details appear, then i have to trawled thru the rest.

I hope I can sort this out with Tomtom support tomorrow. I really like that transmitter, I think it's capable of taking up 16GB SD SHDC card (although it comes with only 4GB), so I can load it up 1000s of mp3. I have not tested tomtom yet, still using my tomtom go 300, who's looking for a new home Smile

Thanks chaps

S888

PS, BTW how can I see the version of the map and the deviceID, and OS version? I can not find the settings on this unit

Postcodes:

Are you using the specific Postcode section of the "Navigate to" menu? If you try to enter postcodes into the "Adderess" section, then it WILL only use the first part.
The postcode data is stored in four files in a folder called "zip" on the TomTom.
Great_Britain.postal
Great_BritainPostal.ver
Nederland.postal
Nederlandpostal.ver

Connect to the PC and browse the memory of the TomTom with Windows Explorer to see if you have that folder and files.
If it (or the files inside) are missing, you can download and install new versions. Much quicker to ask here than battle with TomTom support for this sort of thing!
The files can be downloaded from HERE and I wrote up some instructions HERE

MP3s:
When you put them on the SD card, make sure you put them all in a folder called "mp3" (no quotes) just like the one on the internal memory, otherwise the TT won't see them.

Finding info:

From the normal navigation screen, tap the signal strength bars. That will take you to the route summary page where there is a small box with the software version. Tap THAT box and it takes you to a whole new page with lots more information including the map versions.

There was a recall of retailer stock on the 930 due to a postcode error so maybe an update will fix it. I can't remember the exact details but I will check when back in work tomorrow

or go to here

Thanks Andy, that Zip folder was missing. Now, I can get all the postcode. Really appreciate this. The mp3 folder is already there.

I am surprised, they are still producing new units with this glitch and you have posted that issue in January.

Good Night all
