I have a TT 730 T and would like to buy another RDS-TMC Traffic Receiver for my second car. On the TomTom web site this item is a staggering £49.95 + P&P!

I have searched for cheaper sources and found some but none of the sites say whether it is compatible with the 730.

Can anyone recommend where I can get an RDS-TMC Traffic Receiver for the 730 at a reasonable price please?

If it's a TomTom RDS receiver, it will be compatible with any suitable TomTom. For instance, if it says it's for the x20 it is also for the x30, etc.. Just bear in mind that you want the new one to be the same Part Number as your existing ones. Earlier ones are inferior. Specifically, you're looking for 4V00.013 which has a straight connector not an L shaped one.

I got a 4V00.013 from eBay a 3 weeks ago, £29.99. It works fine with both my 720 and ONE.

I have my 520 in the centre of the dash so I would need a fair bit of spare wire in order to route it to the screen - how much free wire does the 4V00.013 have before I have to stick it to the screen ?

Have you thought of a Carcomm mount? That has a TMC pigtail of about 1m which gives the extra length required?

Call me silly, but one of the reasons I went from PDA to PND was the compact design without all the wires hanging about.
So why isn't there a RDS/TMC receiver integrated into the cigarette lighter charger?

If and when we get the HDtraffic system the receiver will be part of the charger lead from what I have seen of the version they use overseas - Mike

I've heard a rumour recently that Vodafone have concerns about the financial benefits of supporting the HD Traffic system, which might explain the delay in its implementation in the UK.
