Just downloaded this and I find that it only shows camera locations from around the Manchester Area South?, What happened to those locations north of here?, or why would the install do this as it is a straight copy into the relevant folder.

regards

Odd, I have the latest release and it has coverage across the country, plenty as far North as Aberdeen on my map?

Hi all,

I downloaded the latest POI database today and drove to Aberdeen (from Glasgow). Not a single speed camera was marked. I can also only see the ones round Birmingham.

I'm using the ov2 file with TT3.

regards,

Grant.

Here is a direct extract of the camera data to MapPoint and you can see there are cameras between Glasgow and Aberdeen?

If I dump the ov2 file to an ascii file, using dumpov2, I can only see a subset of the cameras and none of the scottish ones. Maybe this is a problem that TT3 is having with the file?

The ascii file produced has 3240 camera's listed, would this be about right?

Also, checking Aberdeens Long/Lat, does not show any around that area.

Dumpov2 gives the following status line at the end of the ascii file;

3241 record written, 0 deleted bytes ignored, 18207 bytes not processed

I wonder what the 18207 bytes not processed is?

Grant.

I think there is a problem with the uploaded database, I have checked the xls file that ships with it and there are no cameras listed for Edinburgh or Aberdeen, I checked for these (Edinburgh)by searching the xls for 55. since that is the latitude of Edinburgh. There are many cameras in Edinburgh, so something should show up.

Edinburgh, Scotland 55 55 N 3 10 W 5:00 p.m.

I've loaded the xls database into AutoRoute and it does display the cameras correctly.

The problem is either with TT3 or the OV2, I suspect that maybe TT is reaching a limit of poi's it supports, when I look att he TT3 map, I can see cameras over about 75% of the country, but not the remaining 25%

I've submitted a support email to TT about this

I think there may be some limit to the number of POI's that can be handled. POIEdit cannot display all od the POI's either, even when loaded from a CSV file instead of an OV2.

I'll try splitting the OV2 file in two and see of that works, two databases may be better than one large one.

I'm using TTN3 with the current database and can see cameras in Scotland in Map View, plenty along the route up to Aberdeen for example. Do you have any other additional 3rd party POIs installed?

I drove from Aberdeen to Kirkcaldy and back, both on Mon 17th and Wed 19th, and all the speed cameras showed up okay. What was odd though, having submitted nearly all the cameras on the A90 between Aberdeen and Dundee over 6 months ago when none were listed, is that the position of some of them has altered.

One is now over 50 yards out and many others are now shown on the wrong side of the dual carriageway. I took particular care not to log those cameras on the other carriageway to that I was driving on. Is it possible that someone has resubmitted these cameras and the weeding-out software used before an update is issued has resulted in erroneous amendments to the ones I submitted?

Unfortunately I couldn't take positions of these cameras again as although they were shown as POI's, Checkpoint itself refused to work on those days although it is sorted now.

Yes it is possible that the verification process has done this, if two cameras exist, one on each side of the carriageway within 100m of each other then the filter will remove one. We have to so this to avoid multiple reports for the same cameras. Because users record them whilst driving past at speed, one camera can often have 10 or more reports and positions up to 150m apart hence we have to filter to avoid corruption of the data.

Hi Darren - very few of those on opposite sides of the A90 between Aberdeen and Dundee are physically within 100 metres of one another, and I appreciate the problem where multitudes of submissions are made for unrecorded cameras - but all of those I noted over the last couple of days had been submitted by me months ago and showed up fine on the previous database issue. Can't quite understand why they were resubmitted by someone else after they appeared in the last database. I'll log them again next time I'm on that road although being retired means I don't drive as much as when I was working!

Odd indeed. Just checked and no new submissions in that stretch were received so the data should not have changed.

If you do re-record them add a note in the email to me and I'll make sure they replace the erronous entries Thumbs Up
