|
|
Pound is now quite cheap so I was planning to buy Zumo 550 from UK based webshop like PentagonGPS or some other shop. I asked from few shops about the AC charger what is included in the package but no answer so far.
This is a stupid question but.
Can you tell me does the AC charger have only solid UK electrical plug or can I change it to normal European plug with two connectors?
I guess only solution is to buy gps from shop in the main Europe or buy the charger as an accessory...but don't know how much that costs in Finland.
Thanks for your help. |

The mains charger I got with my zumo 550 has a base unit and clip-on adapters for UK, EU and US (I think) sockets. Definitely the first two, though. _________________ Tim |

It's just a standard mini-USB socket - so any USB charger should help.

A converter from UK to European plug costs 50p at my local home bargains.
Nothing to worry about. The electricity is the same voltage.
If you need one let me know and i'll post one to you.

Bought my Zumo from Handtec (they advertise on here) and it came with a mains base unit with 3 or 4 clip on units which cover UK, USA, Europe etc so you should be allright . _________________ BMWr1200rt

On a slightly different note, I've just acquired a Zumo 400 which doesn't have a charger with it. According to another website selling aftermarket chargers, the charger for the Zumo is the same as that for my TT ONE v3. ie 5v 1A output. I have a genuine TT ONE charger, but I don't fancy frying my new Zumo for the sake of a few quid. Has anyone any experience of this? Also...while the TT ONE is connected to the PC it is charging. Is it the same with the Zumo, as there's no charging light so it's impossible to tell?

I interchange my TomTom and zumo chargers depending on which one I find first. No product has failed thus far.
I can't answer your second question. When I connect the zumo to my laptop it switches on and goes into 'External storage' mode. I've no idea as to whether or not it charges at the same time, or what it does if you then switch the zumo off. _________________ Tim |

Just tried the TomTom USB charger with the Zumo and it went into 'External Storage' mode. So the inference could be that it does charge while connected to the PC. I'll try it over the weekend, see if it changes the level on the battery indicator over a couple hours. _________________ Ian |
