I rang my mobile phone provider this morning to complain a bit. I said I'd just taken out another with a competitor for £22.50 a month compared with my bill this month for £52 and what about a reduction instead of the upgrade I'm due.

So they (eventually) said, Sorry, we double charged something, we've credited your bill and it's now only £32. Then they said I could also have a 50% discount to make my future bills £15 for 15 months.

Now why do all these companies never give you the benefit of offers without being asked, just as a reward for being a good customer? How many of your bills have I been subsidising?

Reminds me of these people who ring up and say you've won a "something". I tell them not to bother ringing, just send me the flaming thing! But they don't.

I am afraid loyalty is a dirty word these days !!! mobile phone companies have always done this !!I suppose its because there are so many people who are either too busy our cannot be bothered to look about

This practice is not just restricted to mobile phones

It's because they don't believe in loyalty!!

All of the enticing offers are aimed at new customers and you have to go to the "I'm leaving" department before anybody has the authority to give a decent discount.

I've been awarded $3.5m, but I have to provide bank account details and copies of passport AND driving licence for identification purposes.

Here we go again, people making contact and then asking you for proof of ID Twisted Evil

Just stick the money in my account if it's mine!!! Rolling Eyes

Same with companies that tell you on your bill that you are in credit because you have been charged/paid more than you should.
When you ask for the money back they say they will reduce your next bill by that amount. BT are renowned for it.
They get quite uppity when you tell them you want it in your Bank Account earning interest rather than in theirs.

I actually stopped the direct debit with BT until my credit came down to a reasonable level. When setting up the account the guy in India couldn't understand the principal of 'paying what you owe'. Mad

Go on! Cheer me up!
I moved from BT Broadband to Virgin - dead easy, Virgin fixed it all.

Now I've got a bill from BT, in credit, "will be deducted from your next bill". So I have to embark on getting it out of them, PLUS they haven't credited for the Home Hub Phone I returned.

You'll 'ave to show 'em who's boss.

I've never had any problem persuading companies to credit MY money into my bank account - maybe it's a knack.
