|
|
I recently subscribed and downloaded the UK, Europe, and South Africa speed camera warnings onto my Nuvi 660.
When in the UK the cameras appear on the moving map and the Nuvi chimes and goes red to warn when I'm approaching one (which is correct).
When in South Africa the cameras appear on the moving map but the Nuvi doesn't chime and doesn't go red to warn. Basically, unless I kept scanning the moving map I'd easily miss them (especially as they paint them olive green to disguise them!).
I'm guessing this isn't a problem with my Nuvi because it's working properly for the UK ones.
Is this some deliberate configuration in the file (I used the GPX file format)?
Thoughts? |

I'd use the Garmin POILoader, Consolidated database and load it with POILoader with a Nuvi. See if that helps... |

quick question, were you actually driving in SA when you tested them or were you running a demo route? the demo route doesn't go fast enough to trigger the warnings!
also, as paul mentions, i would use the garmin poiloader (csv) format of the database.

Yes, I was indeed in South Africa driving between Durban and St.Lucia (and vice versa). |

hmm... strange...
i presume that proximity alerts were turned on?
could you find the offending cameras on the map on the submission page and let me know their id numbers? also, regarding the uk cameras did you definitely use GPX for uk ones?
on 3rd april you downloaded BOTH GPS and CSV so could it be that you installed csv for the uk ones (hence the warnings) and gpx for SA hence no warnings?
did you use cbroms gpx converter too or was it just the plain gpx from this site? i'm not sure how cbroms utility will handle the exrta speed values (80-130)
