As I've just posted elsewhere, I seem to remember Handtech did the same on a previous model, i.e. advertise it at a very high price before it was released.

Fair enough, but one indication would be the launch price of the x20 series and how much that exceeded the x10 series at that point (which presumably would have had it's price dropped).

I think it's fair to say that, as a new product, the premium put on it by retailers is likely to make it pricier than an earlier product plus thecost of map upgrades, but that leaves the central question of what will be reserved for the latest models.

We''ll have to wait and see I suppose.

The x20 was a new design though so not really fair to compare x20 launch price to the street price of the x10 at that time.

We don't yet know the launch price of the x30 either.

Woo hoo! Count me out of the "only good things" My signature here is a reflection of my number of dodgy TomToms and I wouldn't be a bit surprised to hear that I've been the first to complain long and loud about them on this forum (only the other day somebody called me the expert on faulty GO720s and I'm trying to get myself accepted as a TomTom tester to destruction Twisted Evil - maybe that way I'd get a decent working one some day?).

If you (and I) don't complain (or maybe that should be "publicise our problems"?), there will be a whole load of others out there thinking they daren't say anything because nobody else has complained of the fault they have. Just check posts here and you'll find that TomTom support have a firm habit of saying "I've never heard of that problem before" - your posts (and mine) now mean we can tell them that two zillion pgpsw members have it

It's also worth knowing that the pgpsw people do actually have contacts with TomTom and often pass on feedback from members here.

So go ahead and complain - I think we all realise that a good grump helps get by and nobody thinks you're having a go at us.

Of course the forums should (and WILL) be full of people complaining about things that aren't right... but its a lot more helpful if people say "I've got these issues on my unit, anyone else have the same problem?" rather than "These are all crap, don't buy one" on the strength of limited experience

I have a TT720T and have had very few problems with it I don't use hands free as the one installed in the car is much better and I don't use the FM transmitter but use a direct cable to my car radio as again the quality is much better. But I am very unhappy with the traffic information using TMC, it is rubbish and I normally totally ignore it, while I have to admit TOM TOM are not responsible for the information being old and out of date (which I assume Tom Tom have realized they cannot fix consequentially they are moving to HD traffic). They could at least sort out a more sensitive receiver, show the correct traffic delay information, delay types, road coloring and re routing.

If as seems the case they are concentrating on V8 and these issues are not fixed without upgrading to V8 I cannot see why we should have to pay to upgrade so the device will do what the manual and box said it did in the first place.

Is there any further developments on release dates/prices for the x30 range in the UK yet?

Have any of you guys at PGPSW managed to get your hands on any of the range beyond what access you had to them at CeBIT?

Or are you all bound by CDA's etc Wink

I'm planning to upgrade my trusty 910 in time for a trip down south in June and don't really want to buy a x20 with the x30 believed to be just around the corner.

We're all under NDA but I understand units are shipping shortly so hopefully we will have more news soon.

Hi

Do we have confirmation that the hardware is *exactly* the same?

I've just bought a 920, and since I discovered the 930 in this forum I've felt cheated. The question is whether I should return it under distance selling and get a 930 (Pixmania are claiming stock, but I've had bad experience with them...).

A software/map upgrade would resolve the issue (presumably at my cost) but can it really be that simple?
