I have an ASUS BT100 GPS receiver which outputs the wrong date in the NMEA data. Today for example it was sending 27 November 2027. Thinking there may be some data corruption I opened the unit and disconnected the battery for about an hour. Incidentally I am looking at the NMEA sentences using hyperterminal so the problem is definitely in the receiver. The other data is correct except for a known SIRF II problem in reporting altitude which is not in accordance with the NMEA standard. Has anybody got any idea how I can fix the date problem.

Removal of the main battery won't allways clear the device fully as there is often a smaller cell located on the PCB, 72HRS is how long I had to wait for my 236 to reset when I messed it up last year, although I have never seen NMEA sentences with the date wrong before, is this consistant on all NMEA sentences that contain the date? - Mike

Thanks for the reply Mike. I will try to disconnect for a much longer period. Yes the date is contained in at least two sentences and these are both the same. I use this togther with a PDA as a gliding navigation and flight logging tool so the correct date is important.
