I'm looking to get a new sat nav and I've looked at most.

But I think it will be either a s90i or 920T or Nuvi 770 and I was wondering if any one knew which TMC systme was better.

Do they all use the same data is the signal the same on them on, I suppose I'm asking which has the best TMC!!!!

Garmin use data provided by Traffic Master while Navman and TomTom use data from iTIS
The biggest problem with RDS TMC in the UK is reliable reception, it is very much a postcode lottery as to where it works for any of the devices. I stopped messing around with the Garmin TMC about 12 months ago due in part to poor software updates and lousy reception in my local area, I also didn't like the way the information was presented to the user.

Comparisons between TomTom and Navman -
I would say reception is better with the Navman device and the T1 receiver I have used is fitted with an external aerial socket so it is easy to connect a decent aerial to overcome the poor signal reception.
TomTom on the other hand deliver the information to the user in a much easier way to understand when driving.

Reception issues are only one part of the problem, once you actually receive data it is often wrong or out of date, I would never trust it to automatically re-route my trip due to TMC information irrespective of who's data it actually was - Mike
