Hi,
Just to let you all know that I opened the case again. Tried very carefully to make sure that I had fully reconnected the GPS aerial and closed it up again, and hooray I had a signal.
You obviously have to make very sure that the aerial is properly connected _________________ Leigh

|
|
Hi
Has anyone here had any luck installing one of the various 1800 mAh batteries that are available in a Mio 168? If so, can you tell me where you bought it from?
I purchased one from supergps.co.uk and the battery I received is slightly fatter that the original one that comes in the unit. This means that when I installed it the battery causes a pressure point to appear on the screen (the sort of thing you get if you press your finger on an lcd panel) about 1cm x 1cm.
As far as I can tell I have installed the new battery correctly, and if I put the original one back in the pressure point disappears so I can only assume it is due to the size difference between the two batteries. |

|
|
My Mitac Mio 168 has suddenly stopped charging. I use it only as a sat nav device and not too frequently so I cant say for sure that I had seen a steady deterioration in battery life.
Please can someone confirm that it is the battery at fault and needs a replacement? |

|

The battery in my Navman PiN 100 (Mitac Mio 168) went dead after not being used for several months. It would not take a charge.
I replaced the battery and charged it until the charge status light turned green (after about four hours) ... When I turn it on, the screen lights up for a couple of seconds, then goes dark. It looks to me like the battery only has a surface charge. The PDA functions work fine as long as it is connected to the charger.
Does the battery charger connect directly to the battery or is there any internal regulating circuitry between them, inside the Mio? I would like to understand if the problem is with the charger or inside the Mio. Has anyone experienced this problem?
I only have eight days left on my extended maintenance agreement so I am anxious for a quick response / suggestion. I want to avoid returning the unit to Fry's Electronics because the last time I did, 14 months ago, it took them 12 weeks to replace the battery (I don't know if that was an identical problem).
I sincerely appreciate solutions and advice. Thank you.

I have aquired a Mio168 , not working and with a dead flat battery.
Can someone tell me if this pda should still power up from the mains charger
with the flat battery, or with the battery removed. |

I am in a similar situation, I connect the mains charger and all functions as it should do but when I disconnect the charger, the battery holds no charge and I end up with a dead PDA. I am hoping a new battery will solve the problem. |

Depends on the state of the battery and charger, some chargers need a voltage from the battery to charge particularly the cheapies even if you check the output without being connected they can show no volts although good. |

Has anyone managed to replace the standard battery with the 1800 from SuperGps? I've bought one but see that one member had problems as it is slightly 'fatter'? _________________ Cheers,

In reply to my own question, it was easier than I thought. Had it changed in about 5 minutes without any problems at all. _________________ Cheers,
