I think he is referring to the ability to restore from a backup whilst away from home? _________________ Darren Griffin |

Thanks Darren for explaining and to you Infama for mention the SD/Flash cards, I hadn’t thought of that.
Now its just a case of spending money on a new 920 without upsetting ‘her indoors’. You know what women are like. They seem to think that things like clothes and food come first. Never mind. _________________ Tomtom Go 720.

IF YOU HAVE A 16gb sd card (huge)with the map kept in a folder called backup , perhaps you can keep a redundant copy there and not have to restore??? |

But even if you had a backup with you on SD card, you would not be able to restore from it away from a PC? _________________ Darren Griffin |

Actually, that's TWO 720s and a 920. The volume is fine - I have it at full blast and that's great for me. Vera did sometimes complain a bit when all three let rip with the siren announcement of upcoming cameras, so I've stopped one and put her grandchildren's recorded warnings on another - she really loves it - "Thank you Lauren, Thank you Daniel" and when we get home rings them to say she heard them again. _________________ Dennis

The road is the A30 in Cornwall, and runs from N 50.436554 W 4.762673 to N 50.403668 W 4.906966. The new road is dual carriageway all the way, with only 2 (I think) major junctions along its length, while the old road is single carriageway with multiple minor junctions.

the 520 with latest maps does not have this road. i was down there just before christmas and it played havoc with both the 520 and copilot 7 (Q3 2007 navteq)...

Travelled down from Cardiff to Truro on the 22nd Jan using a 920T purchased the begining of last month. New road not on my version but didn't expect it to be. |

no mention was made of the quality (or lack there of) of the Tele Atlas maps.
As a new US buyer, should I be concerned with the quality of the included TeleAtlas maps? |

Not the easiest thing to discover in a review done in a different country and probably mainly at a desk!
Finding map errors can only be done by long experience by many people on the road. There is no automatic "comparison" program that you can just plug the map into that tells you how good it is.... |

Indeed. Any comments on quality are purely subjective. I can say that having compared Navteq and TeleAtlas in my area there was very little to separate them.
Both had errors in places. _________________ Darren Griffin |

It was written at a desk yes but the unit has been the subject of an extensive road test I can assure you! _________________ Darren Griffin |

what??! we're not supposed to write them while we're out driving with them??! WHY ON EARTH DIDN'T YOU TELL ME BEFOREHAND!!!
seriously though, like darren says, it's hard enough to write such a detailed review without trying to review map data too... i think the only time map data would be an issue in a review is if a commercial product was releasedwith out of date maps - by that i mean there have been newer maps released since then as opposed to the data is old (which it is in ALL maps)

Yeah, did puzzle me. Struggled to think when there may have been a restriction on that part as I've regularly used the M5 for 3 years+. A 60mph limit though.....strange on a Mway Another little glich in the Tom Tom maps I guess. I've come across a few (not all speed related) even on this latest version. The speed limit check I find really useful but really annoying when it disappears on certain roads when you need it most. |

I have noticed the 60mph restriction on the southbound M5 for a long while - have even reported it as an error several times - it's annoying as I can only do 60 southbound and 70 northbound - I get back quicker than I went! I ALWAYS do what Jane says!
Can anyone confirm that you can still use the TT plus Traffic Info via BT phone & web server even if the TT comes with the TMC RDS adapter? I am lucky enough to have a company provided phone with data enabled! Although the latest firmware on my TT (Go V2 at the moment - looking at the 920 or XL) sometimes refuses to connect correctly with my Nokia 3109 - which I did not previously have a problem with. |

It hasn't been corrected from map v705 to 710 (don't know about v715, I'm not a lucky recipient of that upgrade) and I have to say a motorway speed correction should not need a verifier to visit. Anybody with a new map can check - southbound M5 from Junction 22 or thereabouts, much of the way to Junction 25. _________________ Dennis
