I wonder if anyone on this forum has had the same problem as me and found a fix. I have a fairly recent version of CP4 (build 4.04.107) and I can make the Text to Speech voice work, but not the recorded Wave file. I have tried changing the voice as described in the manual, also the slightly different method described on FAQ on their web site, also the methods suggested by the helpful guys at Alk support, but nothing works. The Text to Speech voice is not bad, but very long-winded. eg "turn right onto the B four thousand three hundred and seventy two, Manselfield road" so that by the time he has finished his spiel the turning is long gone! Also, Welsh road names are totally beyond the TTS capabilities. I am planning to use it in France in the near future and expect similar problems.
Has anyone struggled with this and found a way to get the wave file to work?
(I have an iPAQ 2210 and plenty of spare memory) The wave voice on TTN2 works flawlessly.

Have you tried this approach already?
=====================
Uninstall Pocket Speech:

1. On your Pocket PC, tap on "Start --> Settings" and select the "System"
tab
2. Tap on "Remove Programs"
3. Select "Pocket Speech" and tap "Remove"

To install the desired speech option:

1. Connect your Pocket PC to your Desktop computer via ActiveSyncR
2. On your Desktop computer, double-click on My Computer
3. Go to "C:\Program Files\CoPilot Live\PocketPC4_NA\CEQStart\English"
4. Right click on the preferred voice folder and copy the .cab file
5. Open the MicrosoftR ActiveSyncR window
6. Click on Explore and paste the .cab file
7. On your Pocket PC, tap "Start --> Programs --> File Explorer"
8. Explore the "My Documents" folder and tap on the TTS file (or "wavefile"
if you selected the .wav files)
9. Delete the TTS (or wavefile) from your "My Documents" folder.
=====================

Yes Lutz, I've tried that, and it's completely dead. Then, when I try it again in reverse, the TTS works!

really sad. What worked for me was a complete de-install of all of CoPilot and then re-install (selecting the WAV files). Not nice, but it works...

We mentioned already to ALK that this process is not solid, and we are waiting for an improved process.

I'vetried that too, Lutz! Hard reset, followed by a brand new install, specifying the Wave voice from the outset. Navigates OK, but no sound (and yes, I did check the volume was set to max!) Tried the "change voice" routine to get back to TTS, and that worked immediately.
I'm getting really frustrated, as the TTS is of very limited use where I live

This is interesting. I have followed the procedure suggested above by Lutz. Not only does the Nav guidance not work, but the entire 2210 sound has gone mute. It must be something in the registry that is switched to overide the volume. No beeps when clicking a menu - nothing.

Anyone have any ideas?
