I have an OEM type ProClip for my 4155 wired directly to my car battery (with a switch). When I slide my ppc into the cradle the orange charging light doesn't always come on. However the cradle is always getting powere bc if I slide the ppc out/in or turn the car power off/on while in the cradle I get a "Connect To" message however no orange light. I thought maybe there was a loose connection however the "Connect To" prompt indicates the ppc is always getting some sort of signal. The "Connect To" prompt says " '115200 Default status: Connecting to Host w/ options to Cancel or Hide Status. After a half hour or so then the orange light comes on and the ppc charges. Does it take the ppc awhile to recognize the charger? Or by default not charge until the battery is lower? Or a defective cradle?

Secondly, is there a hack to get rid of the "Connect To" screen? Kind of annoying when I want to load TomTom etc. thanks

Your cradle may have too many wires connected. I am not exactly sure how but the iPAQ senses if the computer on the other end of the serial wire (or USB, for that matter) is active, and initiates an ActiveSync connection.

Now I know for sure that RxD and TxD do not initiate that connection. So you must have other lines connected (which you don't need) that cause the connection popup.

If you don't use ActiveSync at all, you can switch the connection off completely - go to Start...Programs...ActiveSync...Options...PC and uncheck the first check box.

I am sharing the power source with something else of very low power so that may be my problem... If I plug in my wall charger at home it doesn't launch ActiveSync, doesn't turn the ppc on and the orange light appears. With the car power it always turns the ppc on from an off position and doesn't charge arghh... so there is a signal however no charge. However after a half hour or so the light will come on. I'm going to try and get a "cleaner" power source. Unfortunately it's all embedded deep in the center console Sad

This is the cradle http://w3.easytrade.net/abm/product.dip?item=1220110&fid=1220113 I think also known as Brodit
