 We attended Magellan's UK Press Launch recently during which they unveiled their new Maestro 4200 series product line-up.
The new range features a new slim case design (only 0.7" thick) with some novel features such as voice control activated by a command word and one-click location information, useful when broken down or in emergency situations.
Expected to become available in October and we will be following up with a full review in due course.

At only 17.8 mm thick and just 82.5 mm tall, the new Maestro packs dozens of advanced mapping features and a bright 4.3-inch QVGA screen into the industry’s most compact, portable auto navigation units.

Beat Gridlock with Integrated Real-Time Traffic and Included Service
The slender Maestro 4245 lets drivers skip extra traffic cradles and cables with an RDS-TMC receiver that’s built right into the unit and transparent to the driver. Integrated premium life-time Traffic Master subscription provides a great value to busy drivers who don’t have time to – or just don’t want to sit in traffic. Traffic incidents are automatically delivered to the unit and incidents on the driver’s route are highlighted and alternative routes offered.
Added Safety with Industry-Exclusive Voice Command and Control upgrade
The Maestro 4245 is the only unit in the new line up to offer voice command and control for added safety on the road. This provides hands-free operation for many of the functions drivers use on a daily basis. Drivers can speak commands for “Go Home,” “Nearest Coffee,” or “Roadside Assistance,” for example.
Road side assistance and Marco Polo Travel Information for Trusted Points of Interest
The Maestro 4200 series offer drivers searchable Marco Polo point of interest listings to provide Restaurants, Accommodation, Attractions, Events, Campgrounds and more. The Maestro series also provides quick access to roadside assistance that shows exact location and provides detailed information on the closest garage. Bluetooth-enabled Maestro devices will connect the driver’s Bluetooth-enabled cell phone directly to assistance.
In addition, the Maestro 4245 delivers Bluetooth hands-free calling and premium lifetime traffic, pre-loaded maps of Europe and more than 1 million searchable points of interest, including the Marco Polo information, provide drivers with the most detailed mapping information available.
