In the past when I have being using Destinator 6 on my HP iPAQ 4700 it has frozen a few times and if I have a map on the screen and try to scroll the map around using the pointer the iPAQ freezes. I then have to do a soft-reset to get control back. I have often suspected this is down to the total amount of memory (64Mb) and the 640x480 VGA screen.

I have recently sent my 4700 away and had the memory upgraded to 128Mb and all the problems have been solved. No more freezing especially when scrolling the screen. Much better and well worth it.

I sent my 4700 to Expansys in the UK. They then sent it to the US for the upgrade to be done by PPC Techs, the company that have developed the upgrade. The whole process took around 3-4 weeks and cost a total of £129.95.

I use my 4700 a lot for all sorts of things and not just for Destinator, so I think it was a worthwhile upgrade, especially as the 4700 is no longer made and no one seems to offer a PDA with such a good screen display.

This is a link to the item on the expansys website...
