OK so what is acceptable with the 720?

1. How much use do you feel you should get from a fully charged battery.
2. Is the buzzing and noise which is heard from the person you call acceptable and will a future firmware update cure this?
3. How long before bugs on Home2 are sorted and again is it acceptable your virtual go does not work and will firmware update cure this?
4. Poor quality from FM transmitter again is the acceptable and will future updates cure this?

If anyone has anything to add please do so.

I’ve noticed that there are a few threads talking about different problems with the 720 would it not be a good idea to bring these together as one to make it easier for those visiting to find information on this unit before they buy. Just a thought as I was trying to find stuff that I had read and now finding it difficult to trace.

I doubt the FM transmitter is going to get any better, the output power of the device is limited by law and this is the main problem with the quality and volume of the sound output via the device on FM.

Try altering the freq's of the FM transmitter it seems to works better with some.I have mine on 170.4, this gives less interferance than 170.0.
Asf or your other comments, faults, and bugs in software seems to be the norm these days. The fixes seem to be a long time coming, I expect they do a batch at a time and not each one as it is found

I doubt you have 170,4 actually selected as a transmission on this frequency within the UK would be illegal, neither would a standard car radio pick up that frequency.
You are right in suggesting trying other frequencies though - Mike

I think what was meant was how about a new forum headed tomtom 720/520, and not lumped in with all the rest of the tomtom rubbish which is of no interest to 720/520 users. I could be wrong of course

The site only recently lowered the number of separate forum sections as it was becoming difficult with too many, adding a new section each time a new device appears is not really something that would help as most TomTom Go devices will translate to the newer software over time and users of earlier devices will then benefit from the knowledge the x20 owners already have - Mike

Ok Andy I’ll put this as simply as I can for you. You can not rest your case as we are talking about something totally different from you. You see you were having a little knock at me as you are thinking that I was repeating a thread, I was not. OK enough said.

Mikealder. OK I see your point about information being relevant to the rest of the GO range. How about a sticky then, listing the known problems that can be added to with may be a link, I don’t know if this is possible or not. I think it would be good that members and future members as well as guests are aware of the problems. I just found it hard to keep up with all the different threads going on with the little time I have. Also I tried tracking down something I wanted to go back to but could not remember where it was and it took a while to find.

Any way it was just a thought.

I still feel that a sticky with known problems linked to such threads would make it easier to find but I suppose that is the best we can hope for, as there is no easy way to do it. Thanks oldboy.
