Not all roads have a speed allocated to them on the maps, have you checked the display on major roads the motorways to prove that it is working or not.

Hi everyone, long time looker first time poster, I have bought a 720 from PCworld and have had to exchange the unit due to it freezing up whenever trying to upload data to it or trying to record a voice to it.

Had an exchange on the new one seems fine so far.

Maybe someone else has had this problem. Also does anyone know if it will ever be possible to put a web browser onto the unit?

Cheers

Had a similar problem with recording own navigation directions.

It would record about 5 instructions and then not record anymore.
Also would not delete or playback what I had recorded after a while.

I presume these are all software bugs that can be fixed?

Still not replaced my 720. Might wait for the next batch to ship.

I was trying out bluetooth connection from my 720 to a Nokia 6230i. I can hear people speaking to me via bluetooth, but they can't hear me.

My real issue is with the routing. Can't get used to the fact that there's no real inbetween option from Fastest to Shortest route like on the ICN 530. Guess the nearest is avoid motorways but that's not right for some of the routes I need to take.

For me, 720 + Nokia 6230i works perfectly. I've even used it hands free outside the vehicle with the 720 sitting on my hand. Might be a daft question, but have you by any chance not selected Internal microphone? Mind you, I'm a daft old man, so I tend to shout at it - makes the natives understand, I believe. Laughing

You might like to try "Calculate alternative". Not the best solution, but you never know what it might come up with.

I tested the handsfree calling on my new 720 last night and during the first test the recorded message left on my home answerphone was noisy and patchy despite the fact I made the call while sitting in a quiet room. The second call while speaking a lot louder was slightly better but still not perfect.

Are any other 720 owners having problems with the handsfree quality? Very disappointing as this was one of my main reasons for spending the extra cash on this model rather than the TT One XL.

Ah, where's this microphone option?

As to routing, I guess I will have to live with it or sell the 720. I'm just a bit annoyed that it wanted to take me from Ascot to Maidenhead via the large main roads (18 miles) instead of a shorter main road (10 mile) journey. Then it took me to the wrong address on the A4!

Ooooops!! Embarassed Senior moment - there isn't a microphone one (I've been using a GO700 with that option for so long I didn't realise it wasn't on the 720).

Do remember you can change your route if you know better - there's "Calculate Alternative", "Avoid Part of Route", "Travel Via". But for me, a poor peasant from the country, it would have got me from Ascot to Maidenhead. As for wrong address, that happens to the best of us, but only very rarely - it took me 100 yards too far down the road into Carmarthen this afternoon and stopped me at number 90 instead of 108, but I don't call that wrong after 110 miles. I've done some 2,000 miles since starting up the 720 and that 100 yards is the worst error.
