|
|
I have Navigator 5 and a friend has Navigator 6.
On my PDA Screen I see a Speed Warning in the top left of the screen as I drive.
Does / Can Navigator 6 offer this ?
We've tried looking and can see settings, but nothing is shown on the screen.
I'm tempted to update to 6, but I like the speed warning.
Thanks. |

IIRC this has been highlighted as one of the changes made in MN|6. The majority of the speed warnings have been removed. I am still using MN|5 but will be upgrading to a new Navigon 7110 when they finally hit the shops.
I do find it strange that this feature has been removed (or reduced) particularly in light of the claim that the software provides "Speed assistant". |

What kind of speed warning? I don't recall such a feature in v5 apart from switching the safety screen on at X MPH?
Navigator 6 has a speed readout which flashes red when you exceed the posted speed for that road (as defined in the map database) and version 7 on the x20's has made this more legible and coupled it with an overspeed audible alarm _________________ Darren Griffin |

I've been using MN5 and upgraded to MN6
The speed limit warnings in MN5 were "patchy" to say the least in my neck of the woods anyway.
I assumed that they were in an early version and would improve in MN6 - as far as I can tell there's no difference.
As the database isn't complete I don't rely on it to tell me the current speed limit, POI Warner with the PocketGPSWorld camera database seems to me to be by far the best way to be reminded of the speed limit. ;) |

On version 5 I get a red circle with the speed of the road I'm on.
I thought this was included in version 6, it's shown on page 37 of the manual.
How do you activate that ?? |

On TomTom Version 5? I don't recall any such feature, are you sure this isn't a third party plug-in? The maps back then never contained speed data so I fail to see how this could be possible? _________________ Darren Griffin |

It's options-settings-basic settings- (page 3 of 4) show speed limits-Yes/Only if exceeding/No
Works fine on mine but as I said before, coverage is patchy

Ignore me, I thought you were referring to TomTom, you're talking about Navigon! _________________ Darren Griffin |

What version 6 are you running ?
Will the version 5 maps work with 6 ?
His v6 map is 201MB dated 23rd August 2006.
Is a newer map available ?
Thanks
If I can see this working, I'll buy v6 when I replace my PDA/GPS. |

V6.2.0 (bought from Navigon website as upgrade)

Dunno but before I deleted V5 and its maps they were showing up when I went into the "change map" options in V6, so possibly

Mine are the same as your mate's 06/Q4, whoops just spotted his are 06/Q3?

Hmmm, why, see my other post, I can't see any improvements in V6 worth £100 and Navigon support are IGNORING my emails |

Took a trip to Blackpool at the weekend..
Navigon 5 showed the speed on the motorway AND the main roads.
Navigon 6 showed the speed on the motorway, but NOT on the main roads.
Is this because his maps are Q3 ?? Seems strange as Version5 worked well.
Any ideas ? |

I had an issue with the Version 5 speed warning. No one would acknwledge the source of the data.
One one 2-lane road the speed was shown as 60 (correct) except it changed to 70 every time we reached a traffic island and junction as this was physically a dual carriage way and, as my road safety partnership confirmed, technically correct even if a nonsense.
In Version 6 there are fewer of these but the GPS announces "BEWARE" when ever you exceed the speed limit. |
