I have recently had to contact Garmin UK after my Quest was knocked from its cradle and then destroyed by a vehicle driving behind me.

I had a "run in" with a pheasant!!!!!

Thanks to the guys at Garmin..........fantastic service.

In fact, the best "after care" service I have EVER recieved from a company in my life :D

I will not go elsewhere when the time comes to upgrade my next sat-nav system.

Thank you very very much.

William Gray.

They ceratinly know how to maintain brand loyalty. Same as you I'll be getting another Garmin once my Quest is too long in the tooth to continue.

they tend to be fairly slow at responding to email so better to phone them on:

free phone: 0808 238 0000 (from http://www.garmin.com/garmin/cms/site/us/supportcontacts)

That's not so good. Sad Do you think it is a manufacturing fault or was it damaged due to an accident? From what I've seen they do a flat rate repair which would be the same price if you had a scratched screen or if it had been run over by a bus.

You might be able to send it back and they will waive the repair cost or they may charge you. Difficult to know what to do, I guess it depends on how attached you are to your Quest and if you'd consider upgrading it or if it's worth fixing. Confused

The solution came from Garmin Turkey: They agree to replace the unit if I can present them the purchase invoice at a cost of EUR 50.00 however, because I have bought it second hand from Ebay, I do not have the invoice Crying or Very sad

Unlucky me!!!!

I'd like to second that, when my Zumo went down (hardware) it was replaced without a quibble

a small piece broke off the battery compartment cover on my i3 which meant i couldn't use batteries.I politely asked Garmin by email if they could supply a new cover,i wasn't bothered if i had to pay for it.

I received no reply from Garmin in any form so when i decided to buy a better satnav in the last 2 weeks garmin lost out as i bought a Sony NV-U51.

If thats how Garmin treat their customers then in all honesty they don't deserve anyones money.

I have finally received a reply from Garmin UK, they offered to repair my unit at a cost of GBP 88.00 which is ridiculous. They new ones are being sold at Ebay for around GBP 100.00

I wasn't expecting that Shocked

Never really understand why people throw their toys out of the pram like that and make such comments. Reading many threads here it's clear Garmin offer excellent after sales service, however like all companies (Sony included) they occasionally fail to live up to expectations. Who knows why you didn't get a response. Perhaps the response was deleted by your ISPs spam filters, maybe they never got the e-mail, maybe there was an error at Garmin that meant an e-mail was sent in good faith but it never left their systems, perhaps someone is still trying to find out for you...

You can't seriously think that your ONE experience out of many thousands somehow represents Garmin attitude to Customer Support can you? Just read XJR's comments above you see what i mean.

nothing to do with throwing anything out the pram,i emailed them on 2 seperate occasions just to be sure they received my email and this was over a year ago..it wouldn't take over a year to supply a new battery cover.

i wanted the cover so when i came to selling the i3 i could say it was in excellent condition which i couldn't do.

Like with ANYTHING if you want a quick response then phone them! You know that they have heard you and you get your answer straight away. EMail is too easy to 'accidentally not make it' - or 'get lost in the system'
