I saw the picture on the Navman 3400 here and the picture of its insides and started wondering...Would it be possible to solder in an MCX connector to the antenna points so that my Navman 3420 can be more like the 3450 with an external antenna connector? It looks to me like it's that simple, but I'm wondering if it would be possible or if anyone has done it. Thoughts? Answers? Comments? Please let me know. Thanks

Possible, but you'd need to know your way around a circuit board!

Why? The two antenna leads are sticking out right there. Right there. Can't I just attach a connector to those two leads?

No because I think you will then be taking a source from two antennas and not one, and you may get a lot of conflicting data. I think with most of the MCX/MMCX antennas they gate the circuit board to stop taking a signal from the internal antennas.
