As I was approaching a mobile camera van on my way home from work this evening, my GPS hung.

Bearing in mind that I travel this way every evening and my GPS usually behaves impeccably, I was surprised.

The only variable was the mobile camera van - which has never been there before.

Does anybody know if there's any technology on these vans, which may interfere with GPS systems and cause them to hang?

Even after 10 miles or so, it was showing me at the location of the camera van, so I resorted to a hard reset.

You wern't by any chance poking the gps at the time, Maybe trying to get the location of said mobile site, and upset the now overworked devise.

Otherwise - havn't a clue! :D

Absolutely not. It would be dangerous for other users who rely on GPS for much more important functions than speed camera avoidance.

It is possible to disrupt a GPS signal, but there is no chance that the police are using (or would even be allowed to use) this technology. The military have the ability to disrupt a GPS signal in a local area during combat. Disrupting the signal in furtherance of 60 quid fines would be highly dangerous as GPS signals aren't just used for car sat nav.

No, I wasn't poking the GPS because I didn't want the camera catching me being distracted and get a fixed penalty & 3 points like I would for being on the phone.

There were so many police and cameras about that it wasn't wise or safe to be doing anything with the GPS

I just thought that it might be a bit too much of a coincidence that I get something unusual happening when there's a camera van that it hasn't encountered before.
