Today sees the first official PocketGPSWorld.com speed camera database made especially for the Drive Smart units.

It can be downloaded by selecting 'Other' and then 'UK Single file with all cameras CSV'

Please note that it is experimental with regards to the SPECS functionality but please read the enclosed Read Me document.

Thanks, and enjoy!

The new DS offered file supplied on their forum (as CSV) is only the ONE file covering ALL the cameras, where as the pgpsw version has four, unless i'm missing something here the DS loader handles one file.

I don't seem to be able to get the loader to work by trying to add extra files.

I know that you are not familar with the loader and I can't contact DS, hopefully some one knowledgable to the DS loader will see this and explain.

the download contains the 'normal' csv files too - you only need to use the one prefixed with DS - sorry, should have made that clear.

can you only install one file? if so then i will have to create 2 files - one with pending mobiles and one without - at the moment the pmobile file is only the pending mobiles as i didn't realise you could only use one file.

luckily the way this file is created is totally separate to the rest of the database so any changes are quicker to make than the rest of the files!

Hi MaFt,

Out of the four files pgpsw has created, i can see two are prefixed as DS, so we will call that TWO+TWO.

Through the DS loader (latest one that converts a .CSV file to .HEX) I put the DSpocketgps_uk_sc into the main file and DSpocketgps_uk_pmobile into extra - pushed the button write all and SUCCESS, i had now created .HEX files but i had three (because of the extra).

I opened up the other loader to add the newly created .HEX files to the DS but i can only load ONE .HEX file, unless i'm missing something here, i see it, that ALL the pgpsw database needs to start off as ONE+ONE file, not the TWO+TWO you have created.

I hope I have seen this correctly, but i feel the files supplied by pgpsw needs to be halved

Guys, many apologies - i uploaded the wrong file and it doesn't have the SPECS start and end in it.

also, i have changed the files.

of the 2 prefixed with DS you only need to use one of them.

DSpocketgps_uk_sc.csv is all verified cameras

DSpocketgps_uk_pmobile.csv is the above but also includes about 1,000 unverified mobile sites

you only need to use one of them.

please re-download to get the up to date changes

Hi
I am a DS user and forum member (who also can't log onto the DS forum) who has joined PGPSW Smile since I have found the issues with the DS forum etc.
I was going to sell my DS and get something else ( Pogo alert perhaps) but I have also been following all the threads concerning the DS on this forum and it looks like PGPSW and other DS users have saved the DS for the time being :D
Whilst I do not understand totally Embarassed how the databases are created and converted to work with the DS, Would it be possible for someone to run through (step by step) how to load the PGPSW database etc. I believe I have to upload the new file from the DS web site to convert to .csv??
As you can see, potential muppet at work.

I have been happy with my DS especially on a recent Skiing holiday to Austria where it seemed to work really well through France, Germany and Austria.

Regards

Wayne, use Image Shack to host the images, the use copy/ paste to copy the link text the IS site supplies when the image is hosted - the text that works is the first line of full picture link (the first few are thumbnails) - I can send you some more detailed instructions if you want on linking images.
Put the instructions you create on its own thread then it can be stickied and linked from the downloads page easily - Mike

As you're going to all the trouble of authoring a guide yes of course, if you email me the images I can upload and provide you with the path to them.

I updated the DS unit yesterday with the new pgpgw database using the Drivesmart loaders, with all operations passed as SUCCESSFUL.
Happy i was upto date, went off to NW London from East Kent last night via Dartford Tunnel then today back down the A13 to Southend, then back to South East Kent. Guess what, despite going past many dozens of cameras and even more "Specs" cameras - NOT ONE WARNING OF A SINGLE CAMERA. Confused 8O Confused

I will have to see what is wrong tomorrow, but something doesn't work.

If anybody else had the new pgpsw database working on their DS unit, please shout.

I have just tested this with both the DS database and the PGPS database loaded as well.

I got camera warnings, the DS can behave strangely when there are two locations E.G. one in the DS database and one in the PGPS database within metres of each other.

Hi WLMOATE,
Quote:

I loaded the new pgpsw database with the two DS loaders (CSV to HEX and HEX to the unit) wouldn't this override the original DS database, as
a) The new pgpsw file is written in DS style, not different,
b) This is how DS expects their own new database to replace their old database file, by replacing it.

So where would I have two databases running alongside each other?
If this is so how do i remove the old database?
