Further to earlier exchanges I draw your attention to the following-
I advised Tom Tom that – “I’ve paid for and installed the V660 maps UK+IE+ EU mains but had hoped to get a copy of TT6 as indicated on your website. Pocket GPS World forum indicate TT6 will work successfully on the HX4700 PDA, could I have free upgrade to try it out?”
And got the following response –
“We would like to thank you for your message to TomTom Customer Support.
Your Pocket PC type is not compatible with TomTom NAVIGATOR 6.
We cannot, unfortunately, guarantee that your PDA type will work free of problems in combination with our latest software.
We are, however, continuously testing devices to find a method to use our software on these devices.
Only when we conclude that a device will work without problems after extensive testing will we say it is suitable and add it to our compatibility list.
Kind regards,
TomTom Customer Support Team”
I'm following this up and will revert when I have anything new

I got very similar wording from TomTom Support after advising them that the fix they gave me to get TT Traffic working again was successful.
"Thank you for your reply, and we are pleased that you have got your traffic working again. Our testing team are constantly testing PDAs/phones for comptatibility, and although your 4700 may work currently with the Navigator 6 software, we cannot guarantee that this will run fully without errors.
With best regards,
The TomTom Customer Support Team"
I have not discovered any problems yet.

I’ve asked Tom Tom to confirm that as a purchaser of the new maps I’ll get an upgrade to TT6 once they have checked out the hx4700. I’ll let you now how they respond.

I said to Tom Tom – “Many thanks for your advice, can you confirm that as a purchaser of the new maps I'll get a free upgrade to TT6 once you have checked out the iPAQ hx4700?”
I got the following response “Your Pocket PC type is not compatible with TomTom NAVIGATOR 6.
We cannot, unfortunately, guarantee that your PDA type will work free of problems in combination with our latest software.
We are, however, continuously testing devices to find a method to use our software on these devices.

Looks like we will have to “wait & see”

I just upgraded my ttn5 maps on my HX4700 to TT6 maps. I chose one of the HP options however the program update wasn't available on TTHome. I guess TTHome validates your device.
Instead I followed the instructions in this thread
http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=52558&start=0&postdays=0&postorder=asc&highlight=
which downloaded and installed TT6 to my 4700 through the TTHome software.
It seems to run OK. Software validated etc through TT website on first run of software. (Used manual validation)
Only had it on for half an hour so far. I will give it a proper test tomorrow. |

I purcahsed the new map of Western Europe for TTN5 then went to the link in the thread gmorc identified
I was then able to download TTN6.3 to my iPAQ 1940 with no trouble and I'm sure it will never appear on the compatible list, too old.
I can't tell you yet how well it works as I live in the Channel Islands and we aren't covered by the maps. But all the other features inclusding the demo routes are working fine. Will be in France at the end of the month so I'll be able to tell how it works _________________ TT Go Essential |

Well seems to be ok so far.
Not noticed any obvious problems yet.
Tried the buddy tracking feature with a friend which was cool 8)
Only annoying thing is I have found that I cannot transfer my favourites over |

I think I've seen a thread showing an easy way to transfer your favourites, but I saved each of mine as POIs in on category on version 5, then I was able to transfer that POI categopry to version 6 and convert them back to favourites. A bit long winded but it worked. _________________ TT Go Essential |

The best way would actually be to convert your favourites, stored in your old .CFG, to a POI group. There are utilities, e.g. POIEdit, available to allow you to do this.
If you need any help, please state clearly what operating system you use on your computer ! _________________ Jock

Hi BGF.
I'm running an HX4700 firmware 1.10 and WM2003SE. WinXP on the desktop.
So far I have only tried copying the Great_Britain-Map.cfg file from my TT5 backup, renaming to MapSettings.cfg and copying into the Western Europe folder.
After doing this the favourites icon was greyed out.
Any instructions on how to use POI edit or similar would be much appreciated
Thanks calomax.
I'll give that a go if all else fails. I should have asked before upgrading

| It's pretty easy! Download it here. Open Great_Britain-Map.cfg, you'll find it contains your recently visited destinations, as well as your favourites. Remove what you don't want, and save it as an OV2. Copy that into your Western Europe folder, and "Hey Presto". You'll need to find a fitting BMP to match _________________ Jock

Great.
Thanks for that. :D
Is there an easy way to convert them back to favourites or is it a case of one at a time? |

Actually wasn't as bad as I thought. Did it one at a time.
Cheers

Gary | There's so many benefits of having them as POIs that I would never have considered converting them back _________________ Jock
