Help wanted on Private Messaging

I hope this is the right place to ask. I've tried to reply to a private message but it seems to be stuck in my Outbox. So I tried to send the reply as a new private message but it's also stuck there.

I still had a message in my Outbox from February 2006, which I've now deleted.

Am I doing something wrong please?

No you're not doing anything wrong. It's just that the person you sent it to hasn't look to see if they have any PMs themselves. I find it very disheartening when I've got 2 that go back to last year. Grrrr

It stays in your Outbox until the recipient can be bothered to pick it up. ;)

It then goes to the Sentbox. Look at it as a notification that they have received it.
