brodit do a mount like what you want, costs about £40...or you can plug the tomtom car charger plug into a car charger extension lead and hard wire the extension lead... _________________ *************************** |

if you leave it in the car all the time it might be tempting to a thief... _________________ *************************** |

I have connected an in-line cigarette socket adapter into a spare fuse (you could just splice into the wiring for your existing cigarette lighter socket) and plugged the original TT car charger into that. The whole thing is velcro-ed behind the dash.
Whatever you do, do not try to wire directly from the car wiring to a DC plug on the TomTom, as the cig. lighter adapter reduces the car's 12 Volts down to 5 Volts for the TT.
12 Volts up the TT=instant death (to the TomTom!). |

Yup, that's basically what I did too (although I wired my socket back to a spare fuse in the fusebox).
Then I made a custom mount too... (Pics here) |
