|
Have just connected my 'old' ONE via Home and it downloaded 6.52
Does anyone know if there are ant significant changes.
May be it's needed for the long overdue Map updates _________________ Orange SPV C600

For anyone that follows the link Timber provided please be aware the bit about Speed Cameras is only applicable to the TomTom database, the database from this site will still opperate in the same way as before - Mike |

6.52 seems to have knocked off my speed related voices from Liz, now I’m back to the bells and cuckoos. Following the Tom Tom site variant that one has to go into the Plus Menu to enable warnings isn’t an option, I don’t have Plus or Bluetooth.
I have looked in the Root of my map folder and the data.chk.file, (presumably Liz’s), is still there. I have had to go back to my back-up 6.120 and normal service has been resumed. I am open to suggestions!

When you updated the software odd's on the data.chk file will have been replaced each software version has a different file (some are in fact the same and can be interchanged between versions but this should not be assumed)
I assume your using pocketgps cameras if you are then you can assign ogg files to each of the individual camera's and there will be no need to use modified data.chk files. This is covered in detail within the forum.
Without looking at all your previous posts it would be helpful if you stated which model of gps you have. |

Thanks for the update, it was in fact a TT 1 'old version'.
So I should now be able to retrieve a 'Liz file' that I have hidden somewhere in my PC folders and substitute the data.chk file that has been changed hopefully.

I don't think it will work (actually i'm sure it won't work) see http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/tomtom-poi-alerts.php and all the different data.chk files for the software versions.
Also rays site http://www.tomtomsatnav.info/realvoice.html only goes up to version 6.15 and the software would not extract my 6.50 ttn file to enable me to make my own data.chk file.
Note The sounds are complied into a file called data.chk. TomTom will not boot with an invalid or corrupt data.chk file so check your version & build and download the correct one ! ! !
As i previously said your best option following update to 6.52 is to use the ogg files and rename to match the pocket gps cameras this is covered in
http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=47366
You can obtain the Liz ogg files from rays site above look at the bottom of the page
And finally Backup before you do anything |

HI
I put liz's v6.15 camera warnings into my 700 with the new 6.52 and it messed up all the menu's.
Will have to wait for Ray to update liz's file.

Oh, don't take it to heart timber, I'm sure everybody appreciates all of your input and the digging around you do for them.

Sorry for being another lost sole on cameras and vioces. I have downloaad the proper voice file for the TOMTOM710 (ver 6.522) from Ray's site, unzipped, matched the file names to the camera files and copied them into the map folder. I can see the files located next to the camera files in the folder. When I went into the Manage POIs/Warn Near menu to configure, I couldn't see the camera POIs. I still get a tone (vs voice) when I do a demo drive across an area where a camera exists.
Any thoughts?
Thanks,
Brian |

Brian, do the file names exactly match each other when you look at each POI for example:
pocketgps_uk_mobile_30.bmp
pocketgps_uk_mobile_30.ov2
pocketgps_uk_mobile_30.ogg
If they are correct could I ask you to have a look at This Page pay attention to the part about file extensions, it could be your voice files have double extensions i.e. they end wth .ogg.ogg
Failing the above please reset your device and see if that assists with configuring the warnings - Mike |
