|

Hello all,
Today I bought an HP1710 with the via michelin 3.1 satnav bundle.
Worked great out the box on the way home from work but...
I'm having terrible difficulty installing the software onto the PC.
Whichever way I try, I get the following message;
"Cannot copy the file :C\Pro........ \ MapSonic.exe"
I've not typed in the full path by the way.
I've tried every workround I know, followed the instruction to the letter and searched for patches or downloads.
Anyone else had similar problems ? I've also searched on here and not found any reports.
Looks like I may have a faulty cd-rom ?
Any help or advise much appreciated. |

Have you turned off any firewall or anti-virus software? One or other may be being over zealous in stopping you writing a .exe file to disk. Other than that I can't think what the problem may be. |

Hi ctp, I had the same problem, installed ViaMitchelin from the SD card, then It wouldn't let me install what was on the CD, onto my PC. There is a Bug in the softwear, that stops you installing the CD if you have installed ViaMitchelin from the SD card first, But there is a patch, on their website to correct this, I downloaded the patch, and It cured the problem and I now have the CD installed on the PC. I tried looking for the patch, but can't find it, but there is an upgrade from ViaMitchelin 3.1 to 3.2, which INCLUDES the patch, try downloading that, if it's no good I have the original patch on my PC, I could e-mail it to you. _________________ Audi A3 Sline sat nav |

Thanks for the replies....
I sorted this by doing a hard re-set (wiping clean the PDA) and installing from there.
The patch you talk about, I tried that and it only works if your already installed !!
Many thanks again for the advise. |

Hi Alfaowner1, The patch you mentioned is for Palm users using VM 1.1 or 1.2. Ctp is using Windows 2003, with VM 3.1, the patch you mentioned won't work, he has to use the other patch I quoted, but it doesn't matter, as he did a hard re-set and started again. ok if you have just bought it, and haven't got anything on your PDA yet, but if you dont want to re-set everything, you need to use the patches we quoted, depending on the type of PDA. _________________ Audi A3 Sline sat nav |

You cannot use the patch you keep mentioned as v3.1 has to be installed to patch it in the first place.
Re: the link, I was a bit tired, anyhow, this is the lin kti map sonic.exe... install that and then install your disk, and it works.

I did it last night. I think th eproblem is that the disk is asking to install map sonic from the via file on the PC and not from the disk. Definatley an error by VIA when making disks. hahaha
