Cobra Electronics well known for the Speed Camera Detectors, and now a new range of Handheld GPS Receivers has received three 2004 International CES Innovations Awards from the Consumer Electronics Association including the company's first Best of Innovations Award for its new SKYNAV(TM) 3000 Advanced Mobile Navigation System. Cobra's "Best in Mobile Electronics" category award comes as Cobra prepares to introduce its new SKYNAV line at the 2004 International Consumer Electronics Show (ICES) starting Jan. 8, 2004.

Cobra also received three International CES Innovations Design and Engineering Showcase Honoree Awards for its SKYNAV 2000 and 3000 Mobile Navigation Systems, and the new XRS 9700 radar detector, continuing Cobra's industry leadership in the radar detector category.

"We knew that our new mobile navigation line would turn heads and we're very pleased to receive the prestigious Best of Innovations Award for the Mobile Electronics category," said Tony Mirabelli, senior vice president, marketing and sales for Cobra Electronics. "It's extremely gratifying to receive recognition for the new navigation products, as well as our detector line for which we have received awards for the past seven years. These awards reflect our commitment to providing consumers with leading technologies to enhance their communication and navigation experiences."

"Innovations" is the most prestigious awards competition in the consumer electronics industry, endorsed by the Industrial Designers Society of America and sponsored and produced by the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA). Since the inception of the program, Cobra has been the recipient of more than 25 awards.

Cobra's SKYNAV 3000 and 2000 Mobile Navigation Systems are packed with industry-leading features that eliminate the need to download maps from computers. The "Plug and Go" systems provide turn-by-turn directions and clear voice guidance to a specific address, intersection or almost two million points of interest.

Cobra's SKYNAV 3000 comes conveniently loaded with North American street level detail maps of the entire 48 contiguous states and Canada and allows users to beam an address directly to the unit from a Palm(R) or Pocket PC(R) PDA with an infrared port, eliminating the need to key in an address. It also features an internal gyroscope to track the vehicle's position even when the satellite signal is lost, while traveling in an urban canyon or tunnel.

The SKYNAV 2000 comes loaded with major U.S. interstates and one regional detailed street level map able to be viewed (consumers select from 20 regions). Additional regional maps are already loaded and can be purchased quickly by phone or online, and instantly accessed without the need to download from a computer.

Both units feature a large 5.2-inch high-resolution, ultra-bright color display, which is easy to see during the day or night. The products will be available at consumer electronics retailers in the second quarter of 2004. The Cobra SKYNAV 3000 MSRP is $1499.95, with the Cobra SKYNAV 2000 at $999.95.

The Cobra XRS 9700 is the next generation of Cobra's best-selling radar detector line. It features leading technology to increase detection range and identify the new K and Ka POP modes, with exclusive features that reduce false alerts, warn drivers about emergency vehicles and save power. The state-of- the-art performance is matched by the line's high-tech appearance, with its sleek lines enhanced by shades of black and silver, and laced with metallic mesh. The XRS 9700 will be available at national retailers in the second quarter of 2004 at the MSRP of $189.95.

Cobra's complete 2004 radar detector, GPS, GMRS/FRS and marine product lines are on display at Cobra's booth, #10506 in the Central Hall, at the International Consumer Electronics Show (ICES) in Las Vegas, Jan. 8 - 11, 2004.
