My TomTom will only recognise the first 4 digits of a postcode. Can i change this anywhere in a file to accept the full post code?
I remember reading about this same issue last year, but ignored it at the time. Can anyone assist me and guide me through the sequence as i an not overly confident on changing scripts in files etc!! |

are you using the postcode option in the menu. in v5.0 you had to put an empty folder called tomtom in the root of the sd card but the lastest version fixed that _________________ currently using aponia truck navigation on windows phone. Good bye IOS don't let the door hit you on the way out .

Are you using postcodes in the standard address search? In which case you will get four digit codes.
If on the other hand you go to the next page you wil be able to access the full postcode search which runs to the full length of the code.
To use the full postcode you need the GB postcode database installed from the disk or whatever, and you need the blank folder mentioned by the other poster. |

I've been using the TomTom Nav 5 upgrade on my Palm T5 since it's release. I've put empty files names 'tomtom' all over the SD card but the postcode search still doesn't work.
This maybe because there are other problems with the application. It crashes alot and I repeated have to enter the activation code. I can get the french maps to work. TomTom's support is useless and they haven't replied to me in 6 months. All suggestions greatfully received. |

The same place as the empty tomtom Folder should be. _________________ Richard

Sometimes you can get really bogged down by trying to find the problem
Why not do a hard re-set and re-install from scratch with your original CD's.
When I installed my GB map the Postcode ZIP folder was installed automatically several seconds later. Just leave it until it's finished.
Remember to leave the ZIP folder intact. Add the empty folder and name it tomtom, then update any available software from the TT site.
When you fisrt try to use the map you will have to activate it again. Have your product code ready and when prompted choose Auto. _________________ Formerly known as Lost_Property

Ahh.. yes. THe hard reset and reinstall sounds a good option. However I've got loads of other application and data on the T5 and re-installin gall that would be complcated. Is there a short route to uninstalling the TomTom software and reinstalling it? |

I've copied the postal file into the great_britain folder with no luckon the SD card. I have also copied the zip file into the great_britain folder with no luck. I have copied these into a blank folder (named TomTom), and into sd card without putting either the postal file or the zip folder with the postal file into any other folder.
Still no luck.... |

The Zip Folder is placed in the Root of the SD Card. It's the highest level you can get on the Card.
If you use the TT install method it will automatically put it in the right place.;) _________________ Richard
