Hello the Board,
Apologies if this has been asked before. I've searched but couldn't find anything. Added to which I'm new to these forums and to satNav.
I'm running TT5.21 and my question is about the .bmp files that come with purchased voices. I've put the 3 files .bmp, .chk & .vif in the correct directory as the voices can be selected and used. BUT the .bmp image doesn't show at selection. All I get is either of the two standard silhouettes (at random) and man or woman as a title. Doesn't help selection!
Can anyone help please?
Cheers

ensure that the file names are exactly the same (ie. you should have 3 identical names per voice and only the extension should differ). _________________ -------------------------------------------------------

Thanks to both of you.
All the files have the same name and I've increased the colour depth to 8bit (256 colour) and I'm afraid they still don't show.
Couple of things from the thread I was directed to....
One mentions a resolution of 160x160 for the .bmps (which mine are). Couldn't work put if that was right or wrong. What should they be?
Another mentions putting the voice files in a directory (on the SD card?) called voices. The instruction I received with the voices told me to put them in the \tomtom directory on the PDA (top level alongside prog files etc.) and not on the SD card. Where should they go?
I'm running an IPAQ Hx4700 so colour depth & screen size is (shouldn't be) a problem.
Thanks for the help.
Cheers

This is where it gets confusing. Seems like this is not consistent amongst TomTom versions.
Try this
create a Voices folder both under the application folder AND in the root of the storage card. Then duplicate the files into both folders.
Also, you may need an "TomTom" folder in the storage card (it may be empty). _________________ Lutz

Success! thanks.....
Did a bit of experimentation too. I only need a "voices" dir on the SD card.
Thanks again.
