Right I need some help pees,
I've got me Etrex Vista cool, I've got Mapsource thingy of the whole of Europe came with it, and Microsoft Autoroute Express on me PC.
I can't work out if Mapsource will plan a route I think not so...
Can I plan a route using Autoroute express and suck it in the mapsource and squirt it in to me Vista or am I missing the point.

The answer to both is no. You can download waypoints I believe to the eTrex, but you can only use Garmin's own software/maps. |

Surely it depends which Mapsource 'thingy' he has, Dave? Mapsource Metroguide v5.0 does allow automatic routing, but only on the PC. I'm sure that the routes generated on the PC can then be downloaded to the eTrex. Of course, rerouting from the eTrex isn't available, so stay on track!

If the eTrex is being connected to a PC and used as a GPS feed then AutoRoute will certainly do the job, I'm not sure if you can connect MetroGuide up to a GPS feed though, tbh haven't tried it.
Certainly you can download waypoints, tracks etc, but it's no-where near a routing product. If the PC is being used rather than the GPS as a standalone product, or a PDA with GPS, then there are other options available, like InfoMap Navigator on the PC, or TomTom or other products on the PDA front. |
