If you look here: http://www.mytomtomgo.com/firmware_6.php
TT have announced the new features of TT6. But not, apparently for PDA's.
Can anyone ask them if PDA's will be supported?

I do hope it comes to PDA although given the rampant piracy I can see why it would not be released. I like the idea of this feature:
"Show maximum speed
Lastly, the new maps also make it possible that your current speed is shown, together with the maximum allowed speed. If you drive more than 5 km/h too fast, the speedometer turns red. If you drive more than 10 km/h too fast, it also starts blinking."
Although I'd prefer a vocal warning rather than a visual one.

Darren has said several times on this forum that there WILL be a version 6. Remember that he and other PocketGPSworld staff have information (and possible even beta versions) which they are not allowed to talk about because of confidentiality clauses. Just relax - it will come!

To be fair, in the matrix, it does say " All devices" |

then again, wouldn't it be normal to limit their publications to Go/Rider/One if the site is called mytomtomGO.com? _________________ GO1005

As a PDA user of TT5 i'm generally happy however I am interested in having the additional POI's and navigate to coordinates. The feature I'd really like is for TomTom to get the map update program running (I suspect that mine are a year out of date but don't want to buy a new set given the program 'starting in Q2 2006'). The other improvement I'd also request is a better navigate to contact as currently I can only get it to work for some of my contacts.

I'm hoping I can update the software to 6, on my PDA, without having to purchase maps as well.
Quote: | a better navigate to contact as currently I can only get it to work for some of my contacts | Usually because the address has been entered in the address box rather than clicking on the Address 'tab' first and entering in the appropriate 'fields'. This usually solves any problems unless the house has a name, rather than a number, or it's a block of flats, where usually the Postcode search will get you close. _________________ Formerly known as Lost_Property

Why the rush to get the latest version, going on past TomTom history it will have reduced functionality to make it more multi-platform compatible, a load of new bugs and will have two minor updates which fix little and then another version will be released?
Personally I would rather just have an older version that works properly with newer maps. |

Going on past performance I would say that would be highly unlikely, as in the previous software updates you have not been able to use the previous maps with the new software. New maps, new software and it isnt possible for older versions to read new maps.

Hi Mr T
I entirely agree with you when you say that the present programme works just fine. Its up-to-date maps we need. If only we could get a map update once a year, now, that would be brilliant. _________________ Tomtom Go 720.

I'll be sticking with 5.21 in that case. :P _________________ Formerly known as Lost_Property

You can do exactly that. If you are only interested in UK, you can download an updated map for 49 euros. I have recently done so, and unless there are some significant improvements I shall probably not bother with TT6

Has anyone got any idea whether TT6 will also contain the maps of europe as well, as part of the upgrade as it did with ver.5?
