I am Thinking of buying a medion MDPPC250, to use for fairly basic Sat Nav, amongst other things.
Can anyone please tell me if this PDA has a manual Volume control, or is there any software volume control that would allow audible directions to be turned off, or at the very least to be turned down.
The volume is actually quite low (and not that clear) out of the in-built 'speaker', and if increased too much with the control on the menu, it starts to get even more distorted.
I'm somewhat curious as to why, in particular, you would want to turn off the audible directions.
Most people listen for the directions, then glance at the screen to confirm the directions spoken.
Without the audible prompts, you'd have to look at the screen much more often, with the obvious safety implications. _________________ Getting older and more senile by the minute !
I am at present using an "old" m515 with navman gps 500, which doen't have any sound, and have to say that for a basic gps, it is quite good, even managed to get me out of Madrid airport cargo area last year, when i got in there by accident.
Whilst my car was recently in for its first service, I was loaned a Volvo V70 (top of the range) with all singing & dancing add ons.
The most annoying thing on the car was some "fair maiden" telling me where to go, especially in a built up area.
It is actually my wife who reads the satnav and gives me directions.
and yes, her misdirections got me into Madrid airport cargo area!!!!!!!
Thanks for the info re the Volume Control
