PND (Personal Navigation Devices) have mushroomed left, right and center over the last few months. Most of them have a pretty standard design, but there are a few that have raised the occasional eyebrow.

The TiBO is certainly one of these eye catchers. Its design is rather unique, and our review will show if the performance of the device is on par with its looks.

Speaking of looks. You may have noticed the metallic "ears" on both sides. They are not useless design elements (as it first may seem) but instead are trying to contribute to the navigation experience in a blinking way, so to speak.

Click here to find out what those ears do and to read Lutz's full review...

:D That was my impression too! Unfortunatley it looks a little square and bulky compared to most systems.

Volume, brightness, battery life, POI quality, GPS sensitivity, map quality, software quality are all usefull items for a review.

The only destinator software review I could find elsewhere was 2 years old.

Volume is better than PocketPCs but inferior to GO (however there is a headphones jack)
brightness - average, slightly better than GO
battery life 4 hrs
POI quality? Not sure I understand
GPS sensitivity - very good, can't believe it is not SiRF III
Map quality - varies by state
software quality - upper entry level (or lower professional level)

There will be another Destinator PN/SP/ND software review soon.

Both Fujitsu (aka RFMD) and Global Locate chipsets are pretty good and come very close in performance to SiRF Star 3, thay are also different from SS3 by being host-based GPS chipsets.

Has the local chinnese food place in their DB actually closed 5 years ago?
Are there 14 law firms for every bank machine?
Do the local dog track, Ascot and Silverstone all share the same label?

I'll leave these questions to the software review. Even more so since I was using US maps.

hi guys/girls ... im new to the sat nav world having bought my tibo of a tv shopping channel two weeks ago at a discounted price .... im not sure what i think off it and debating on returning it under my 30 day cover!!

Im disappointed that its ND software appears to be out of date [uk and ireland map says 2004 Q4.3312 ] and not sure if any of the tibo is current/up todate as about says version 5.1.79...

The other thing is does tibo automatic have speed camera detection ? i tested mine the other day on know ones and it didnt do a thing ! ..in fact cant find anything with referance to it on it - and can i add it if it doesnt Question

Idea Any help you can give me will be welcomed Idea
